Hi! I’m Lisa Peterson, but most women I work with call me the one who finally made it all click.

I coach type A women 35+ who’ve crushed it in life, but still feel like they’re failing when it comes to their body, food, self image and energy .

Because no one ever taught us how to lift, eat, or lead ourselves without guilt, burnout, or self-abandonment. And no one taught us how this impacts our relationships. But I will…

I’m 53. Post-menopausal. Autoimmune.
And yeah there’s a benign brain tumor in the mix that changed how I see and hear everything.

Once a CPA and corporate exec, I walked away to raise 3 boys, then got knocked flat by Hashimoto’s after baby #1 and premature menopause at 39.

(I was talking hormones long before Instagram knew what a cortisol spike was.)

Somewhere between doing it all and holding it all I lost myself.

So I rebuilt-
Certified in personal training, nutrition, yoga, and now NLP, subconscious rewiring, life coaching, hypnosis, and still learning-
Because I don’t just want to age well, I want to evolve… and help other women grow and evolve too

I became the coach I wish I’d had 15 years ago, and use my struggles to help others struggle LESS

Fitness used to be about abs and ass.
Now? It’s about agency and values

It’s about being human, giving yourself grace,

building a strong body, calm mind, and a future you’re proud to step into.

This isn’t “just eat less, move more.”
That plan was never made for women like us…

This is beyond macros, muscle, and mindset…this is about embracing imperfection and redefining midlife.

Here’s what I know:
You can love your body.
You can work on your mind.
Have deeper connection to soul.
You don’t have to choose.
You don’t have to give up vanity to find peace.
You just have to learn how to see and hold it all differently. I’ll walk it with you

If some part of you already knows it’s time-
Start here. Stick around. Let your next level become your new normal.

This week I found a box of treasures from a trip to Jerusalem in 1992. I found this on Mary Magdalene’s feast day of all days.

A year before that trip,a friend took me to a psychic. She told me I’d had past lives connecting me to ancient lands,as a medicine woman &as a gypsy with cards wrapped in red silk.

She couldn’t know I already owned cards.Already had them wrapped that way. Bought them years before at an esoteric shop, before college.

I found those cards,my pics & this crystal/feather adorned shell from that time.

I’d been pulled toward that part of the world since before I could explain it:the music, the mystery, all of it.

So when my university required a summer abroad for international business students, I added a second major for the sole purpose of getting on that plane.

Standing at the Holy Sepulchre &Stone of Anointing, where his body was laid feet from the shrine marking where Mary Magdalene stood, I shook & cried without thought. It felt familiar.

I was 20 & also a party girl, rebel, wanderlust dreamer — many parts of me that didn’t make sense, that weren’t practical. My crazy.

A woman of contradictions I was told many times. Conditioned by my parents to be good, smart, logical — but underneath it, something else that they never understood except to call it dangerous.

I realize now it was my essential nature.

A few years later I was a CPA. Which is what I’d been told I needed to be, by my immigrant parents who loved me,wanted me safe & had fear around my intensity & these parts of me.

I’m 54 now, delighted I still have the deck and pics. It all moved with me through the accounting years, different homes, 3 sons, decades when nothing about my life looked like a woman who owns tarot cards.

Maybe this is the beauty of midlife. Not reinvention — reconnection. I understand myself better now: the pull toward Egypt & India, toward yoga philosophy, depth psychology, Reiki. None of it a fad or detour. It’s the way back.

What if midlife isn’t about becoming someone new, but recovering parts who were there before.

Is there a younger part of you you got disconnected from in order to be good, useful, smart?

She’s still alive in you.

You’re the capable one who everyone counts on. You advocate for yourself, for others, you show up,you handle it.

That’s exactly how this hides. It never looks like weakness. It looks like strength.

So you don’t stop for the whispers…quiet sense something’s off, or the wondering where your preferences went or that you lost yourself somewhere in all of it.You’re too capable to stop. So you push through. And the whisper gets louder, as exhaustion, irritation & sometimes illness.

Here’s the life hack nobody tells you about. It isn’t doing more. It isn’t “optimizing”, affirmations or performing positivity.

It’s perception.

So much of what we call “I have to” is actually “I’m choosing to.”

And thats the best news there is,because choices can change.

It looks like this: saying yes & calling it necessary. Going quiet or complaining instead of asking for what you need.

Redoing what your kid or partner didn’t get to instead of letting the chips fall. Not asking for help, then resenting no one offered. Letting difficult people cross your lines because nice feels safer than honest.

Some things really aren’t a choice. The bills, caretaking, responsibility because there’s no one else. Not those.

But the extra layer we pile on top. That’s where the choice hides. And that we can change.

We can’t always change what happens, or change people. But we can change how we see things, what we choose, how we show up. Change your perception & reality shifts.

Blame says I’ll feel better when things change or “they” change.

Agency asks: who am I being, what am I available for, what patterns no longer fit?

I know this from the inside. I was the capable one who couldn’t stop & my whisper became a shout before I listened.

When I did, I saw things I’d blamed on others, I’d had a hand in. Not to blame myself. To free myself. The moment I saw different, I saw I had the power to change.

That’s the work I do with women now. Not making you tougher. Helping the strong, capable woman find the places her strength works against her.

We had it good didn’t we? This was a recent high school reunion, and it’s what we did 4 or more nights a week growing up in the 80s & early 90s Miami.

From parking lot parties to teen nights to south beach and not a phone or camera in sight

Now after 25 years studying the body, it’s clear to me we were regulating our nervous systems that whole time. We just called it going out.

It took me over 2 decades to get this: most of the healing world works top-down, talk first- change how you think & the body follows.

but a lot of stress doesn’t just live in your thoughts. it lives in your body, & you can’t always think or talk your way out of it.

dancing works bottom-up. you change how the body feels & the mind follows. you’re not analyzing anything, you’re moving stress out instead of sitting on it.

With dancing the beat pulls your breath & heart rate into rhythm, and a room full of friendly or familiar faces tells your system you’re safe, & the screaming counts too. you ramp up, discharge, come back down.

Today I think it’s part of why I don’t carry a lot of what we lived through the way you’d expect.

Miami back then was dramatic and crazy- like the Wild West.

But multiple nights a week our bodies were shaking it off, screaming and laughing & coming back to calm. We just had no idea it was good for us.

Now it makes so much sense: for me movement on the dance floor later went to the yoga mat, the breath, the weight room, and so much of the work I do now.

Movement as medicine, just different approaches.

& if you can’t sit still to meditate, breath and movement is your way in. it’s why a yoga class ends in delicious stillness. move first, sync with breath, the body settles, the quiet lands.

a walk, a run, a lift, a dance by yourself, all count. you don’t have to start sitting with your eyes closed. You can start by moving.

are you still dancing? alone or out, does it feel like medicine?

I had the dream life. And I was performing happiness. Performing perfection. And feeling very disconnected.

I’d just come back from Hawaii with my family. I’d just shot for the cover of a fitness magazine. The marriage, the home, amazing kids, a corporate career I’d already achieved in & walked away from.

All the things. And there I was, feeling empty, meditating on wanting more connection to Source.

Then came the line I ran on myself for years:

Who am I to feel this way. Look at everything I have.

Who am I to complain, when so many have it worse.

Here’s what I understand now. We’re conditioned not to want more, to check boxes, to perform & look at the bright side. We are also taught that anger is ugly. That resentment is bitter. That those are unattractive things for a woman to be.

So often we gloss it over & we call it positivity.

But what if anger, grief, resentment are signals. Intelligent ones. Your complaints pointing to genuine wants or needs.

What if they’re telling you something in your life is out of alignment, the deeper question: what is this pointing me toward?

I didn’t know yet to ask these questions.

What I know now is that I was looking for Source, because I’d lost track of myself.

I hear a version of this from women constantly, especially in the second half of life. The house gets quieter. The body changes. What mattered at 35doesn’t move you at 55. And questions surface you don’t have language for yet.

Who am I now? Who am I becoming?

Somewhere in all the roles, you stopped being someone you knew.

Not long after this, my health collapsed. Leading me to the answers.

That’s a longer story & it took everything. But what came out the other side was more depth.Real connection.Unconditional love. A lot less interest in “things” & a lot more vitality, purpose.

It’s part of what I work on with women now as a @nextlevelhuman life architect & coach.

The body usually follows as it keeps score of what’s not being expressed.

The answer was never out there. It’s in you.

The good woman trap is real, and most of us don’t see the bars.

I’ve told these stories too. The day to day responsibilities and logistics are real.

But a lot of what we take on isnt really ours. We disappear into the roles, at home and at work.

Good wife, good mom, good daughter, good at work, good volunteer, so helpful, the “good woman”.

And sometimes the roles don’t come with a boundary, so we just keep taking on one more thing, until we’re in service to everyone while we fall apart or have no time for ourselves.

The over-functioning feels like love. It’s actually how we disappear.

I got interested in the patterns under women’s stories.

Not to talk a woman out of participating in her life, but to help her see what she’s taken on and made it mean about her.

How to ask for help or say no. What she took on as hers because the role implied it was, especially when others benefit from her extremely capable functioning.

And how all of it ties back to how she’s aging, her health, self-worth and her vitality.

It isn’t always this deep. But when it is, naming the roles, finding the boundary, and putting down old beliefs and identities is what helps a woman move forward into something more expansive and liberating than to-do lists, “I have to’s”, “shoulds” and habits.

@jadeteta @nextlevelhuman identity architect/coach training is a big part of how I learned to identify the patterns and help women rewrite them to experience more possibility with their health and fitness goals, life and relationships, greater vitality and magnetism. I love this work.

This clip is from a conversation we had and explores what I learned from feeling disconnected, to thinking I was dying, and how I use the wisdom from that to help people now.

The full episode is on Jade’s substack I’ll link in my stores and in bio.

And if you recognize yourself in any of this, my DMs are always open. Xoxo by @lisavp305

The right coach hears the story you can’t hear yourself.

It matters, because it’s the stories that keep us stuck.

You think it’s the food, the hormones, the willpower.

But there are quiet scripts running underneath every choice you make.

In this piece I give some examples- like the woman who called me last month for help losing 15 lbs she’d put on the last 2 years during a stressful period.

She knew what to eat. She knew she needed to move. But still she wasn’t exercising and she lamented spending money on groceries that ended up in the trash, a cycle that continued weekly while she ordered takeout instead.

“I’m so bad,” she said. “I’ve really let myself go. I have no discipline.”

She thought she needed more discipline.

I wasn’t so sure.

Because the behavior isn’t the whole story.

Her nervous system state matters.

Her stories matter. Somewhere along the way she had turned this human struggle into evidence about who she was. Which isn’t useful and keeps one from moving forward.

I’m so happy to be a few weeks into working with her now and already seeing shifts.

Another woman turned a temporary setback into an identity.

And another overlooked a real victory because it didn’t look the way diet culture and her conditioning made her think it “should”

Similar patterns almost every time.

Each one was living inside a story she had been telling herself. And the stories run the show and often are the foundation for quitting, stoping and starting for years, or never even starting a health journey.

I love getting “under the hood” and exploring the stories. Because you cannot out-discipline a belief you can’t see.

My full column, The LVP Report, is out now in @miamishoreslivingmagazine

There is always more to the story.

So what’s your story?
I’d love to hear it. Meet me in DMs

XO, Lisa

I stopped posting before & afters of my clients:

Not because I don’t help women get in great shape.I do.

The past year, women down from 5 to 50 pounds.

Women losing fat building muscle,

some maintaining their weight while eating up to 30% more calories or carbs.

Others learning to lift for the first time from their home & learning what they’re capable of.

The body changes. It always has & always will whether you do something or nothing…

The thing is before & after photos don’t apply to YOU or reflect what actually happens when we work together.

Because most of the women I coach are 35-65,& they’re multi faceted go-getters

Which means they’re navigating life & prioritizing themselves, while also having a full plate & dealing with some hard shit.

It can mean you’re running or changing your businesses. Navigating changing hormones. Aging parents. Kids activities and some leaving. The empty nest. Betrayals. Divorce. Among other things.

We explore how the things impact their self image, self talk, self worth, how it shows up as over function, perfectionism & more. What do we make these things mean & how that relates to the body.

And I understand because I’ve been through things too. Infertility. Divorce. Leaving corporate. Kids with hard diagnoses & near-death emergency surgeries. Early menopause. Autoimmunity into remission. A brain tumor. My own trauma & more I’ll never speak of here

Which is why I spent 2 years studying & working in the biology and belief/subconscious/psychology; to help women make supportive, lasting & liberating changes.

A before & after can only show you a muscle pop, maybe a smaller waist & let you fill in the rest.

One of the most mind blowing life coach trainings I did was w/ @nextlevelhuman- impactful, life changing & masters level education on the psychology of change+techniques to guide humans towards their highest self in health, money& relationship.

I’m so grateful for the time I’ve spent learning & doing thiswork in theNLH community.I’ll speak of this more & share clips soon from a recent podcast i did with my friend & teacher Jade.

In the meantime, here’s 2 pics taken seconds apart.None tell my story do they. by @lisavp305

You already “know” “what to do” don’t you?

So many women tell me: “I know I should…lift, walk more, eat the protein. But I don’t.”

It’s not for lack of information. A plan from ChatGPT, a podcast, some Ig posts you saved — solid guidance is free & everywhere. If information were the answer, we’d all be doing the things.

And you may think you’re inconsistent- but it’s not that you’re lazy or undisciplined.

So much if it is your beliefs. And they’re keeping you stuck.

An example: a woman came to me to lose weight. On our call she said: “Strength training doesn’t work for me.I get no results.”

Ohhhh- (Lisa rubs hands) here is where we do real work-

When did you decide that? “College. I took a strength class & got no results.”

At 50, she was still living by a conclusion she drew at 20. This is a misguided unconscious decision. It kept her resisting/not even trying strength training for 30 years.

No workout program or meal plan touches that. No supplement touches that.

Here’s the truth: catching the beliefs - having awareness at a conscious level- isn’t enough. It’s the doorway -

You can see the pattern clearly & still get run by it — because it’s not just in your thoughts. It’s wired into your nervous system. So you white-knuckle a new routine, & the day life gets hard, the old wiring wins.

You don’t quit (or never even start) because you’re weak or lazy.

You quit or never start because you tried to out-discipline or out think something you decided as a child, teen or younger self.it becomes part of your identity.

And it’s not just in fitness. These old decisions run everywhere — your business, your parenting, your relationships. Patterns so consistent we stop questioning them.

We just call it our personality.

That’s the work I do with women. We work online over zoom, find old decisions underneath the behaviors & reactions —

then rewrite it, rewire it, retrain it, so you lead from your adult self instead of decisions you made half a lifetime ago.

& if you need effective meal guidance & workouts for home, we can make that part of your program while we work on what’s beneath

Knowing is part of it, I help with the rest. by @lisavp305

Getting older is a privilege, and we get to decide how we age. You’ve heard me preach this for years.

I didn’t just learn this in a classroom. I’ve studied this and, at 54, I’ve lived it.

Each health challenge I’ve faced, including autoimmunity and menopause, and even turning 50- all taught me the same thing.

So much of how we heal, and how we age, starts with the beliefs we’re living inside.

There have been studies and books written about this for years.

Now a new study out of Yale confirms it again. Researchers followed more than 11,000 adults over 65 for more than a decade. Nearly half didn’t just “hold steady”.
They improved, in memory, in strength, or both. The strongest thing linked to who improved wasn’t medication or supplements or genetics.

it was what they believed about aging.

Your body is always listening. To the story you tell it about your age and what’s still possible.

Expect decline, and it responds. Trust that repair and vitality is still ahead, and it responds to that too.

You are telling it something today, whether you mean to or not.

And here’s the thing. We think thousands of thoughts a day, and most of them are the same ones we thought yesterday. The brain loves a loop. So the stories arent told once. It’s repeated, so many times, so quietly, you don’t realize it.Until it doesn’t feel like a story anymore. It just feels like truth.

Aging with agency and empowerment is possible. When we rewrite & rewire more useful stories and beliefs.

And use your real DNA data, so you stop guessing & stop building stories out of fear. And start building and aging better from clarity and possibility.

My deepest desire is to empower women with vitality and hope, to age audaciously better at the level of cell and story.

Their biology and their beliefs, together.

Your body is listening. What has it been hearing?

Xoxo
