🧱 A father and son are separated by silence, unresolved memories and gestures that never reach one another. In Muros (meaning ‘walls’ in Spanish), movement becomes the language of longing, a delicate exploration of what is felt but never spoken.

From filmmaker Dani Cobarrubias and choreographer Carmen Porras (@micuerpohabla) , for @nido_producciones

Performed by Thomas Chaussebourg and Clément Chevalier

Part of Dance in Focus | A curation by #CharlesLinehan, choreographer and director of @lisd.f_, for Dance Umbrella Festival 2025

Exploring the history and reality of farm work in the US-Mexico borderlands, Ghostly Labor is dance film that tells a story of resistance through tap dance, Mexican Zapateado, Son Jarocho and Afro-Caribbean movement.

Blending oral histories and performance, the film looks at the systemic exploitation of migrant labour, while celebrating the strength and solidarity of collective action.

Created by @la_mezclasf Artistic Director @nessa_sanchez44 with media artist @jjleanos, it stems from a multi-year community project with farmworkers in Half Moon Bay, California, in collaboration with nonprofit @alashmb.

🏢🎥 Human and urban landscapes collide, co-exist and shape one another in The Ends: a hypnotic dialogue between bodies and brutalist architecture.

Filmed on Westbury Estate in Lambeth, London, the title of this film comes from use of the term ‘the Ends’ — slang for neighbourhood or home — to describe estates now under threat of gentrification and demolition. Inspired by Nabil Al-Kinani’s work @privatisethemandem, with over 23,000 social-rented homes lost in the past decade, the film is both a celebration and elegy, reflecting on community, resilience and erasure.

Special film installation for LISDF 2025 at the Ramp, Laban Building, 16&17 October.

Created by artists Angela Woodhouse & Caroline Broadhead, Who Cares is an interdisciplinary video work, situated between dance and visual arts. It explores and applies the use of movement and thermal imaging in creating an innovative, multi-screen work which reflects on touch as a place of care, contamination, intimacy and trust. Revealing the potential for painterly abstraction through the video capture of heat trace combined with movement/dance, Who Cares connects the worlds of technology, biology and art. Dancers: Martina Conti @marti.conti, Alice Labant @alice.labant

Angela Woodhouse’s work as a dance artist is essentially collaborative and interdisciplinary and has been shown widely over the last 30 years, including recent projects with visual artist Nathaniel Rackowe such as Desire Lines (Southbank Centre) and Expanded Landscapes (Canary Wharf).
Visual artist Caroline Broadhead’s interdisciplinary work explores objects that interact with the body. Her pieces are held in major collections including the V&A, MoMAK, MAD New York, and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. Her 2017 retrospective was shown in the UK and Netherlands. She is Professor Emerita at Central Saint Martins.
Together, they create installation and site-specific works uniting movement, material, and space.
