The transformation that @thekrislynedit did yesterday is seriously jaw dropping. I’m so continuously in awe of her talents, especially for being just 19! Krislyn, my last graduate. And to quote the end of her speech she gave - “when we walk out these doors, I hope we leave with the courage to keep learning, the humility to ask questions, and the confidence to chase every opportunity. Remember your success won’t be measured by the money we make, the salon we work in, or the number of clients we have. It will be measured by the confidence we give away, by the smiles we create, and by the people who leave our chairs standing a little taller than when they sat down. If we can make people feel seen, beautiful, and worthy, then we’ve done something truly meaningful.”

Tennessee was calling so naturally, we had to go! :) We’ve been a handful of times but hadn’t been back since we moved Kinley last year. I can’t get over how rewarding it is seeing her in her element… big girl with her own office sporting her GENERAL MANAGER of Tennessee Tech football name tag, showing us around the town she’s made home.

We made our way to Dollywood, did some hiking, and as always - plenty of eating & laughing. Fresh mountain air & unforgettable views with my some of my favorite people - thanks Tennessee… and until next time Kinley ❤️ by @lish3k

These two. Steven surprised Krislyn today at school on her last day with flowers & fruit. Family isn’t always blood & DNA doesn’t automatically make you a dad. I know this sadly from my own experiences. Effort does. Love does. It’s about the man that steps in and cares for your girls with his whole heart without fail. I’m really grateful we have him and he loves us so well. by @lish3k

About yesterday. Kinley gets a couple of weeks off before the madness of football season begins so she was set to fly home Thursday. Well, her commitments changed so she decided to cancel her flights, hop in her car at 4 am and drive home from Tennessee to surprise Krislyn on her birthday. Mission accomplished and heart happy! :) by @lish3k

19 years of magic, radiating sunshine wherever you go my precious babe. Reliving all the years on this special day puts a permanent smile on my face. When you were 3, trying to sneak butter (of all things) from the fridge… your ambitious drive then was impressive, yet a tad exhausting, ha. Now, that same ambitiousness is taking you to such impressive places. In the next few months, you’ll graduate cosmetology school and tackle your greatest dream AND GOOD LAWD am I so dumb excited & proud to watch. Your journey is only starting, in SO MANY ways sweet girl. Never stop lighting up any room you walk into my Krislyn Jane! I pray I can give you even half the joy you give me! My Friday night. A moment I want to treasure forever. Life moves so fast - all things big and small. So when you’re almost 19 year old lays her head down in your lap and drifts off after her long day… don’t move, don’t breath. Just soak it in. Go old school - write down the recipe. I had old bananas & randomly thought I’d go through my mom’s old recipes. No lie - first recipe under “bars” - banana bars. She loved to bake and I always crave time in the kitchen, forever been a form of therapy for me. We found this recipe box cleaning out her belongings after she passed, never knowing it existed - what comfort it has brought me. Squeeze your momma & write down the recipes friends! by @lish3k
