This September, Liss Gallery welcomes legendary photographer Bob Gruen for a special presentation of his most iconic work, alongside never-before-exhibited images carefully curated by Brian Liss and Bob Gruen himself.

From intimate moments with John Lennon to the electrifying energy of KISS and Led Zeppelin, the unmistakable spirit of Tina Turner, and more — experience the photographs that captured music history from behind the lens.

Bob Gruen will be joining us in person for this special reception.

For decades, @lissgallery has brought some of the most recognizable names in contemporary art, photography and pop culture to Bloor-Yorkville. 🎨

At the centre of it is owner Brian Liss, whose career in the art world began with a passion for authentic movie posters and evolved into curating exhibitions and building relationships with artists and collectors around the world.

Over the years, Brian has worked with an incredible roster of artists and cultural figures, from Romero Britto and Peter Max to photographers Bob Gruen, Mick Rock and Harry Benson, along with artists including Ronnie Wood, Ringo Starr and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

We joined Brian at the gallery on Cumberland Street for a closer look at the collection, the stories behind the art and the passion that has shaped Liss Gallery into the destination it is today.

There is another side of Capri, found not in its grand vistas, but in its quiet corners.

The new collection by Alyssa Crosby invites us to linger in these intimate landscapes, capturing the extraordinary detail, colour, and character of the island’s hidden corners and sun-drenched views.

Each work offers a glimpse of Capri through a deeply attentive eye. A celebration of the places that might otherwise pass unnoticed, rendered with remarkable detail and a sense of timeless Mediterranean beauty.

A little TIFF hidden gem in the heart of Yorkville 📸✨

I had such a special afternoon stopping by @LissGallery for the incredible Ron Galella “Paparazzi!” exhibition and chatting with @mcauleytucker, Digital Director and Representative for @ron_galella, about the stories behind one of the most fascinating photographic archives in pop culture history.

Ron Galella captured some of the most iconic figures of his time, from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and his legendary “Windblown Jackie” photograph, to John Lennon, Mick Jagger, Andy Warhol, Cher and so many more.

I loved hearing McAuley share the stories behind Ron’s career, the incredible archive he left behind, and what goes into preserving and sharing this body of work with a new generation.

It was also such a privilege to meet Kathy and hear from someone who worked so closely alongside Ron and continues to help preserve his extraordinary archive and legacy today. 🤍

There is something so special about standing in front of a photograph you recognize and then hearing the story of what was happening on the other side of the camera.

A huge thank you to @LissGallery for the wonderful hospitality and to @mcauleytucker for taking the time to chat with me. McAuley is doing such a wonderful job keeping these stories alive and introducing Ron’s work to audiences in a whole new era. 📸✨

I highly recommend stopping by Liss Gallery in Yorkville and seeing these photographs in person. There is so much history inside these walls and every photograph has a story.

What a special way to close Ron’s very first full exhibition in Canada, during the international film festival.

We were incredibly grateful to have Kathy, President of the Archive and Ron’s longtime assistant, and Nick, Vice President of the Archive, join us in person for the closing reception to celebrate Ron’s work, share stories, and answer questions about his remarkable life and legacy.

A very special thank you to @lissgallery for becoming Ron’s first Canadian representative and for bringing this incredible collection of photographs to Toronto during such an important time for the city’s film and arts community. We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to experience Ron’s work, especially those who made the exhibition part of their TIFF weekend.

And to everyone who purchased Ron’s book or artwork, thank you for supporting his legacy and helping keep his work alive.

Although the exhibition has now come to a close, we hope this is only the beginning of seeing much more of Ron’s work throughout this beautiful country. 🇨🇦
