Ever wondered where Halloween really comes from?💀👻

Join us for The Celtic Origins of Halloween, a fascinating talk by Dr John Maguire (Arts Groupie) exploring the ancient traditions and folklore behind one of the world’s most popular celebrations.

Dr John Maguire is an award-winning writer, heritage researcher and broadcaster, recently featured on Channel 5’s Great British Cities with Susan Calman. His work brings overlooked historical figures, folklore and working-class heritage to life, with acclaimed projects exploring subjects including An Gorta Mór, the Great Irish Famine, Kitty Wilkinson and William Roscoe.

This talk takes us on a journey through Samhain, ancient Celtic folklore and old British traditions, exploring how seasonal rituals and beliefs evolved over time to become the Halloween customs we know today.

Our Chop, Cook & Connect sessions got off to a fantastic start on the 9th of September, and they’ve already proved to be very popular!🍝

The first month took participants on a delicious Italian-inspired journey. Together, they learned how to make fresh pesto, prepared their own pasta, and created a delicious tomato pasta sauce from scratch.🌿

This week we then brought it all together as everyone combined their creations, sat down together, and enjoyed the meal they had made — a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills, share good food, and connect with others.

And the good news is, tickets are still available for our October Chop, Cook & Connect sessions! This time, we’ll be bringing the flavours of the Mediterranean to the kitchen, with plenty of opportunities to cook, learn, eat and connect.
Spaces are limited, so book your place and join us for the next session! by @listerstepstol

Last week, we got stuck into something fresh, simple and delicious- Homemade tomato pasta sauce from scratch🍅🥫

Our attendees got hands-on, learning how to turn fresh tomatoes into a delicious pasta sauce, while some adding their own little twists along the way. 👩‍🍳✨

A fun, practical session that helped build confidence, develop cooking skills and, of course, ended with something tasty to enjoy!

This week, we’re bringing it all together! 🙌 Over the last three weeks, our attendees have been learning different skills and making each element of the dish — and now it’s time to combine everything to create a full pasta dish from scratch. 🍝

Once it’s all cooked, they’ll sit down together, enjoy what they’ve made and celebrate everything they’ve learnt throughout the sessions. ❤️👩‍🍳

We can’t wait to see the final dishes! ✨
