POSTS STORIES REELS

What’s better than the city, wine and books on a Friday evening? I’ll wait.

First, @chelsonashelf and @lauraslilibrary and I went to @bibliothequenyc in SoHo. The staff were so incredibly sweet and will definitely be one of the reasons I come back. That along with the specifically curated Bibliotheque candle scent! In between selfies, I picked up Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez to add to the never ending #tbrpile 📚.

We, then, headed over to @bookclubbar in the East Village. It was so cozy and had a great selection of romance books. I grabbed Say You’ll Be Mine by @nkumarwrites as soon as I saw it, since I’ve had my eye on it due to its recent release. To my surprise and absolute joy, it was a signed copy! So excited to read Naina’s debut novel and now add this signed copy to my bookshelf!

Celebrating Independent Bookstore Day by sharing some of my favorite indie bookstores around the 🌍📚.

@kitazawa_books | Jimbocho, Booktown, Tokyo. An absolute dream. This fourth-generation, family-owned bookstore is the perfect mixture of second-hand and rare books in both English and Japanese.

@nottinghillbookshop | London, UK
A must while exploring the Notting Hill area. Whether you're a fan of the film (like me) or a book lover (or both!), this tiny but mighty bookshop has a great selection of classic and contemporary reads.

@oebookstore | Tampa, FL
Located within @oxfordexchange, OE has a lovely selection of signed and special editions. I definitely recommend grabbing brunch while you're here or visiting the champagne bar 🥂.

@therippedbodice | Brooklyn, NY
Home, sweet home for all of us romance readers. There is so much to see (and read) at this HEA bookshop, including signed copies by your favorite romance authors. Recommend checking out the author events calendar while planning your visit!

📍 Jimbōchō Book Town (神田神保町古書街), Tokyo, Japan

Exploring Japan was absolutely unreal. Got wonderfully lost (on purpose) in Jimbōchō —Tokyo’s magical book town. Endless shelves of vintage books, cozy little book cafés, and the feeling that I was living my very own version of Days at the Morisaki Bookshop. My kind of heaven.

🥀 | Lethal Kiss by @taylorlgrothe

“You would never know she’s going through hell if you looked at her. And isn’t the just the way? Women are expected to hide their feelings behind impassable, suffocating walls spun from silk and smiles.”

This book is unlike anything I’ve ever read before. Taylor has created a story that seamlessly marries horror and romance through lyrical prose, meaningful character development and an atmospheric setting that completely pulls you in. And honestly, atmospheric storytelling is one of my favorite places to find myself as a reader.

Lethal Kiss is a horroromance drenched in Norse folklore, dark academic vibes and sapphic romance. We follow Marcella, a Nordic revenant known as a draugr, and Lacie, a professor whose past has left its scars as she works to keep them from standing in the way of obtaining tenure at Preston University.

Everything changes when they discover a colleague, who also happened to be Lacie’s friend, murxered on the floor of the Classics department.

We get to witness an academic rivals-to-lovers romance as Marcella and Lacie form an unlikely alliance to get to the bottom of what is happening in the Classics department. Between the mystery, the folklore, the romance and the unsettling atmosphere, Lethal Kiss pulled me in from beginning to end.

This is for fans of:
🖤 Horror x Romance
🩸 Jennifer’s Body x Nordic Monsters
🕯️ Dark Academia x Secret Cults
🔥 Atmospheric Reads x Feminine Rage

Thank you to @macmillan.audio for the free audiobook! The audiobook was beyond fantastic and I highly recommend doing an immersive read for this one! I loved the dual narration from @jaimebee and @jenwrenpickens - the characters jumped off the page! So well done.

Thank you @tornightfire for the ARC! I am beyond excited to add @taylorlgrothe to my auto-buy author list and I cannot wait to read what is to come from them 🖤.

🍂🎃 | @tornightfire Happy 5th Birthday 🖤

Tor Nightfire threw a party on Friday with our favorite spooky books, bookish friends and all the October vibes. Thank you @tornightfire for celebrating your birthday with me! Cheers to many more years 🍻.

Dead Weight by @hildurknutsdottir was one of my favorite horror novellas of the year! I picked up Spread Me on Friday and I can’t wait - it sounds like survival horror, body horror and sci-fi all mixed into a queer novella. Yep.

✨ Any spooky favorites this month? Tell me below!

I was so excited to grab this mystery pop keychain at Barnes & Noble during spooky season, as a #ghostface girlie. Have you picked up any mysteries this spooky season?

👻✨ | May the permission to (soft) dnf always be with me.

I have been so intrigued by Rottenheart, a sapphic Hamlet reimagining with lush prose, and I just love to eat up gothic, atmospheric settings in books (especially during spooky szn) but for some reason, Rottenheart and I were not vibing this month.

I rarely post about dnfs/soft dnfs because I rarely choose to not finish a book! I loved the thought of what could come between our two characters Odette and her best friend, Cecilia, but after finishing 30%, the slow-moving plot, repetitive beginning and multiple POVs were just not working for me! I may choose to pick it up a later date but until then, on to the next ✌🏽.

Thank you @coloredpagesbt @zandoprojects for the galley.
