Thank you for wanting better for this country and completing a historic 107 day presidential election. Thank you for your honesty in this book. On my birthday last year (October 22nd), I held an Early Voting Birthday party at the polls. I had 40+ people come out to cast their vote for YOU to be the next POTUS. And I’m still not over the outcome. 🥲

Gave into the hype and I dragged my bestie along with me (after forcing her to read the book) @_beenrish!!! Very rarely are book adaptations spot on but THIS ONE — very much spot on! This book series was the first @colleenhoover books I read so I was very excited to see it! It was SOLD OUT in Memphis, so big congrats to the cast and crew! What did you all read in July? ——

To be honest, July wasn’t a good reading month for me! Nothing really impressed me. ☹️ I was definitely in a slump. Hoping August is better. Recommend me something exciting!

Somebody’s Daughter x Ashley C. Ford — I wasn’t impressed nor did I dislike it. This was a book that’s been sitting on my shelf for years. It was the autobiography of a black woman and speaks about the mental, emotional, and physical abuse she encountered. Super short read!

Come & Get It x Kiley Reid — OMGGGGG, I want to cry I hated this book so much 😂 I still don’t know what it was supposed to be about it. It was too many characters/stories for me. I enjoyed her previous book and this was a disappointment.

The Woman in Me x Brittany Spears — Check highlight!

You Got Anything Stronger x Gabrielle Union — This book was HEAVYYYY! She spoke about her journey to motherhood through surrogacy, black face, racism, her transgendered daughter, and other vulnerable topics. I clicked on Biographies on Libby and it was the first thing there and available. Read it in one day! Very short read. by @literaturewithlency

JUNE READS ✨
What did you all read this month? Any page turners? No worries if you didn’t pick up any books, it’s a new month to give it a try.

1. Such a Fun Age was one of the best books I’ve read all year! I thought this book blindly; I thought the cover was cute colors and it was on sale for $12 so I gave it a try. It follows a 20-something black girl who doesn’t have a “real job” and attempting to figure out her life while in an interracial relationship.

2. Unpopular opinion — Not a Freida fan. I know she’s a huge star but her books feel like Tyler Perry movies to me. 😭 There is always so many twists and turns! This one wasn’t that bad!

3. One thing you should know about me is that I HATE self help books! Life is hard enough without me reading a book about how much I can better my life by doing X Y & Z. This book opened my eyes up to so much childhood trauma that I have. Read at your own precaution 😂

4. This book was given to me by @the.winebrarian years ago and I never read it until now! Read it in 2 days! OMG so good! Definitely advocating for this to turn into a movie! #bookstagram #book #booklovers #bookclub by @literaturewithlency
