it has been a very very hot minute since i last posted anything here or be completely active and that was not planned at all. i think winter just puts me in bad slumps because of the cold, but i'm definitely working on this slump since january is ending and i've read zero books so far lmao, but i have been writing tons ! i am not abandoning my booksta, but i am sad that i lost the momentum of my engagement but who cares because i just love posting for fun

i hope this 4 am piece is something you'll enjoy!

"When I was born, the word for what I was did not exist." β€” Circe, Madeline Miller

To be a woman is to perform and the expectations have been irrevocably set the second we crawl out of our mother's womb.

For the female rage is to strip the emotional barriers between women and their patience, but in a cloth covering only the barest parts of her skin.

To expect rage is to expect a performance with tears running down her godforsaken face, dewy and glowing as a flower that was drenched in rain.

"She is not a woman. She is a goddess. More than a woman that she ever will be, so long as she is more beautiful. Because beauty is all there is for a goddess. Because beauty can get her far, but not far enough. It can bring her a cascade of applause, but never an ounce of respect. Certainly not a man's or a god's." β€” Prose from G.L. β€” a short essay ⋆.ೃ࿔*:ο½₯

"may this life be as kind as sweetness"

in honor of my grandmother, here is an essay i wrote for my expository writing class this quarter.

i officially survived two of my classes with one left to go for finals, but we are coming to another end of a short-lived era!

let me know how this one goes for all of you β™‘οΈŽ by @literielle

β€” book log: the employees (10/10)

a preview of my personal book log now that i don't post extensive reviews of books that i've read online. i think i am able to express myself better when i write for myself rather than to showcase my thoughts.

[excerpts from the employees]

"and if we can, are we to love them like humans or dogs?"
 β€” statement 63, pg. 51

"i want to know what it's like to hold a child in my arms again. when the child put its mouth to my breast, i was both a body and an object to it. when the milk squirted, i was both the milk and not the milk."
 β€” statement 80, pg. 67

"the way i see it, you're a family that's built a house. and from the warm rooms of that house you now look out at the pouring rain, safe from menace, you only delight at the rain. you're dry and snug. you're reaping the rewards of a long process of refinement... i'm standing in the rain you think can never fall on you. i become one with that rain..."
 β€” statement 97, pg. 75

"i appreciate this feeling of sadness, because it's a sadness i can endure. it's not hard to bear; it's more like a delicacy. another reason i appreciate such a sadness is that i know it's a deviation from the emotional behavior i was allocated."

β€” to all the books i've read this summer! 🀍

i realized how much i've completely abandoned reading over the last few years and would like to pick it up again with both soothing and thrilling books.

i'm almost done reading six of crows and it will be added to my summer list soon enough! i made it a goal to read 10 books before the academic season comes back around, so i have a little less than a month and 3-4 more books to go!

ps. i'm fighting off the -ber months cold and hoping i don't get sick right when classes are about to begin..

q: what have you been reading this summer?

β€” the kamogawa food detectives πŸ•΅οΈ

a comforting read, enough to boost the momentum for a readathon and it's a nice slowed down book that's often mistaken as a high paced murder mystery food crime book, so it's why people did not necessarily enjot it according to the reviews.

have you read this book lately? what do you like about it? if not, is it on your list?

june and early july have been full of endeavors that i happily burned into my brain because it’s great to experience such fruitfulness among the stress and heavy burdens of life, but as everyone i know tells me on a daily basis, β€œwe get through it one day at a time”
