two weeks ago, i had the honour of meeting @nothingnowhere .
it was a night that changed me, and i will forever hold it close to my heart.

all my life, i couldn't pinpoint a favourite artist. then i discovered nothing, nowhere. the first song was either "pieces of you" or "pretend" (i wish i could remember which).
from there, i devoured everything: trau choi, lil tofu, never, forever, and every unreleased track and demo i could find. i have a playlist of all of these that i listen to daily.

his music became my lifeline. "real" taught me that it was okay to be broken, that vulnerability wasn't weakness, and that i wasn't alone in the pain. his entire discography gave me permission to feel everything, putting words and music to feelings i could never properly understand.

the first time joe played in australia, it coincided with the anniversary of my one year clean. that timing felt like a sign. it was the moment i realised i could survive the darkness, and his music was the light that guided me there.
and the night i met him? i was just a bundle of nervous excited nerves, especially as this was my first ever meet and greet. but he was so sweet, so genuine, so present. he made me feel seen, even when i felt invisible.

forever grateful for the music, the recovery, and that night.
the cult of the reaper saved me.🖤
