Hi, I’m Charlotte, the hands behind Little Hell Paints 🖤

I’m a tattooist and a painter, creating work inspired by canal history, boating and signwriting.

Hand painted with intention, rooted in tradition and made to live in your space and mine.

I work from my studio, The Boathouse, along the Erewash Canal in the Midlands, usually covered in paint.

I like to paint pieces that aren’t just decorative, but made to be used and lived with.
You’ll find hand painted signs, restored pieces, one offs and workshops held at Young Cardinal Tattoo in Derby.

There’s more behind how this came to be… ready to hear it?

Welcome 🖤

First boat project done .

Anyone that knows me knows how much I love our boys . And for some reason it feels quite emotional to finally finish this project I’ve worked on for a few weeks .

They’re still full of life and love hopefully for many more years, for that I’m grateful . But how beautiful are they .

The Boathouse officially has a boat ♥️

I’ve been a little quiet on here over summer. I’ve been enjoying the warm weather and long evenings, but I haven’t completely stopped working behind the scenes.

I’ve been doing a few courses to improve my painting, particularly ribbons, scrolls and some of the more traditional techniques I want to bring into my work. I’ve also got another course in my sights for later this year.

With some slightly cooler days creeping in, the paints are coming back out and I’m ready to start creating again.

And now The Boathouse officially has a boat, I have a feeling my painting might be branching out beyond the studio walls too ♥️

Lots of ideas. Lots I want to try. And plenty more to come.

Painting: ❌
Paddleboarding and pizza: ✅

In my defence, it’s been far too hot to paint, and we’ve been far too busy making the most of summer. The boathouse can wait… the sunshine can’t.

That’s my excuse anyway. 😅☀️

don’t just post your work… post you working 🌹

the sketches, the mess, the paint on the hands, the ideas before they become something finished. that’s where the good stuff lives.
