HEAVENLY BODIES by Imani Erriu 🌙

★★★★★ 5/5

This book was MAD good. Like, actually insane. 😭

The twists, the plot, the love this man has for his woman, the sheer badassery of it all. And those last few chapters?? I was sitting on the edge of my seat, barely breathing, because the twists just KEPT. COMING.

i am absolutely devastated, obsessed, and in desperate need of the next book.

Have you read heavenly bodies yet? because WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?!

Fantasy books & my questionable life choices 💀🗡️

Dead fictional men, 3-year sequel waits and cliffhangers that deserve jail time😭

Anyway, what flavour of bookish suffering are we on today?

Jumping on the trend like I have any control over my tbr🙈

These are the books on my year-end tbr, but as a certified mood reader, who knows how this is actually going to go😂 I might stick to the list or I might abandon it completely because another book catches my eye. Either way, these are the books I hope to get to before the year ends🫣

TROPES:
✧ boyfriend’s best friend
✧ friends to lovers
✧ right person, wrong time
✧ dual POV
✧ slow burn
✧ acts of service as a love language
✧ co-parenting a dog
✧ emotional healing

Dog tax: Woofarine deserves a mention of it’s own

SIX STARS. YES, SIX. I WILL NOT BE TAKING QUESTIONS. 🫠🤍

All it took was one concert night and one decision for Larissa to end up with Mike instead of Chris. And just like that, we got a whole book of right person, wrong time, unbearable yearning and a man who deserved the world.

Chris is genuinely one of the most thoughtful MMCs I’ve ever read. His love language is acts of service and the way he quietly cares for Larissa, remembers her allergies and steps in whenever Mike falls short? I WAS UNWELL. 😭

The fact that Chris has to love her from afar because she’s dating his best friend? THE ANGST. THE EMOTIONAL DAMAGE.

But what made this book so special was that it wasn’t just about romance. Larissa has her own complicated past, family trauma and generational patterns she has to unlearn. Watching her discover what she deserves and learn to break those cycles made her feel so real.

And Larissa and Chris? Their friendship is the foundation of everything. Their shared love of books, their conversations, the way they understand each other, and even co-parenting woofarine together🥹 Their connection felt so natural because they genuinely knew each other.

Abby Jimenez has this incredible way of writing love, grief and healing so authentically. The yearning felt earned, the pain felt real and the love? SO BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN.

Chris deserved his own six-star rating, honestly.

If you love a slow burn, friends-to-lovers, a ridiculously attentive MMC and the kind of yearning that makes you scream into your pillow, PLEASE READ THIS BOOK.

And remember: Sometimes the right person really does come along at the wrong time. 🤍

Bookstagram is peer pressure, but make it literary🤭

One minute you’re minding your business, the next you’re adding 17 books to your tbr because your internet friends said so🫣

Be honest how many books have your bookstagram friends influenced you to buy!?!?! by @littlejo_reads

Just a random Monday morning at my house where I decided the best way to clear my head was to pull every single book off the bookshelf.

Because apparently, when life feels a little chaotic, my solution is to create even more chaos, dust my books, rearrange everything and call it self-care.

And honestly? It works. 🫶🏻

A clean bookshelf, a clearer head, and that ridiculously satisfying feeling of looking at everything once you’re done.

12 books. 4 rereads. Apparently I had a lot to read this month🙈

The 4 rereads were basically me doing my homework before the next Sarah J. Maas books because apparently I like to be prepared WAY ahead of time. Homework? Finished. Early.

It’s been a while since I picked up this much proper romance, but with The Love Hypothesis movie coming out in September and me being ridiculously excited about it, I think my brain just got stuck in a romance mood. 😂💕 So naturally, I picked up ALL the romance.

Of course being the mood reader I am, the TBR had other plans and I read whatever the hell I felt like. 😂

The Bodyguard by Katherine Center 🩷
⭐️ 4/5

After a long time, I finally read a romance that was just SO GOOD. This book was cute, funny, hilarious at times, and had all the things I love in a romance!

First of all, I absolutely loved Hannah. A tiny but powerful FMC who can literally kill someone with a corkscrew? YES, PLEASE. I went into this thinking Jack would be the bodyguard, so finding out that Hannah was the one protecting him was such a fun twist. I loved how different and refreshing that was!

Hannah is assigned to protect Jack Stapleton, a Hollywood star, but things get complicated when he heads back to his family ranch in Texas to be with his sick mother. Not wanting his family to know about his stalker or the bodyguard situation, Jack ends up with Hannah pretending to be his girlfriend. And well, you can imagine where the fake dating takes them. 👀

The banter between these two was EVERYTHING. Jack is ridiculously charming, Hannah is such a strong female lead and their chemistry had me smiling throughout. Add a slow burn, a fake relationship, a little undercover operation, some trauma and healing, and a man who’s afraid of bridges and you have yourself a really cute romance!

I also loved that beneath all the humour and the adorable moments, there was a beautiful story about healing and letting people in. It was such a feel-good read, and I genuinely enjoyed spending time with these characters.

If you love strong FMCs, charming MMCs, witty banter, fake dating and a slow-burn romance that makes you smile, this one’s for you! 💗

As I grew, my bookshelves grew with me 🥹
From whatever space I could find to my own little library.

#books #bookstagram #bookish #bookworm #booksbooksbooks

The first time I had my own house as an adult, I didn’t even have a bookshelf 😂
So I just turned this display shelf that came with the house into one.

Then I moved into a slightly bigger place and discovered Pinterest 😂
I was obsessed with these floating shelves, and since I didn’t have that many books back then, it actually worked perfectly.

After getting married, we moved into a house we weren’t sure we’d stay in for long.
So… ladder bookshelf it was 😂
A few books went on the shelf, and the rest basically lived in cartons.

And finally, I got to create my own little library 🥹

Thinking you can follow me, get your little follow-back, and quietly unfollow me 2 days later!?

Babe, I don’t do follower attendance. 😂 I might’ve actually liked your content, replied to your comment, answered your DM, or thought we made a genuine connection only for you to disappear like it was a heist.

And honestly, seeing almost 150 people unfollow me recently genuinely disappointed me. I was shocked at how many people had followed just for a follow-back and then quietly left.

I’m not here just to collect followers. I’m here to build a community to know the people behind these accounts, see what you’re reading, creating, loving, and connect whenever we can.

I only follow people back when I genuinely connect with or resonate with their account. So pleaseeee, don’t follow me just to get a follow-back.

*Follow me if you actually like my content.
*Follow me if something here resonates with you.
*Follow me because you genuinely want to be here.

I’m not forcing anyone to stay. 🤍

And thank you to the people who have been here from the beginning, and to everyone who has stayed along the way🥹🤍

I know none of us can interact with every single person we follow every day, especially when we’re following hundreds of accounts. But whenever we can, we show up a like, a comment, a DM, a little encouragement, recommending a book, sharing something we loved. Those tiny interactions are what make this feel like an actual community to me.

And I genuinely appreciate the people who have done that with me. The people who have stuck around, supported my posts, talked to me, shared their reads, and made this little corner of Instagram feel like more than just a follower count.

That’s the kind of community I want to build. 🤍

So, if you genuinely enjoy being here, I’m so happy to have you.
And if you don’t, that’s completely okay too.

Just… please don’t use my little corner of Instagram as a temporary growth strategy. 😂
