Happy Pride! The official trailer and website for THE DADS is here! Film Synopsis: Inspired by the Emmy-Award winning short documentary of the same name (Netflix, 2023), The Dads follows fathers of trans and nonbinary children forced to choose between country and family amid a shifting political landscape. Filmed over the course of a year—from quiet retreats in rural Maine and Minnesota to protests, family milestones, a pivotal U.S. Supreme Court decision, and the collapse of gender-affirming care—the film captures a moment of national reckoning with striking intimacy. Directed by Emmy Award–winning filmmaker Luchina Fisher and executive produced by Dwyane Wade, this is a powerful portrait of fatherhood as an act of radical love and resistance. THE DADS is screening every week this month! Find out where you can watch on the film’s official website just launched! You wanted more and it’s here! We are thrilled to announce that our feature documentary film THE DADS will make its WORLD PREMIERE in March at @sxsw. This project was a labor of love inspired by our Emmy-Award winning short documentary of the same name (@netflix, 2023). Four years ago, five fathers came together on a fishing trip in Oklahoma to share in a common purpose of being dads to trans and gender expansive kids. Now, as their community grows, so does anti-trans legislation and hostility nationwide. The fathers are forced to make an impossible choice: stay and fight or flee the U.S.. A heartfelt thank you to all of the dads, our partners at @thedadsfoundation, @59thandprairie, @aliforneycenter, and @elevateprize, the entire film team and everyone who has touched this important film. At such a dark moment in our country, we are strengthened by the courage and brotherhood of these fathers and honored to share this film with the world. We will never stop standing up for our children. The Teaneck International Film Festival has always held an extra special place in our hearts. ♥️And at this year’s festival, director @luchinafisher will receive the inaugural Sandi Klein Creative Woman in Film Award! The award recognizes an exceptional woman in film whose work demonstrates originality, artistic excellence, powerful storytelling, courage, leadership, and a commitment to meaningful social impact. What makes this truly special is Sandi was an early champion of Luchina’s film career back when she debuted her first feature @mamagloriafilm, about trans activist and icon Gloria Allen, in 2020. Sandi sponsored the screening and moderated the talkback, and the film went on to win the Jury Award for Best Documentary. And now we’re back with THE DADS (feature) as an official selection for the festival’s 21st year. The screening will be Sunday, November 8th. Thank you so much Jeremy Lentz and @teaneckfilmfestival for welcoming us back. See ya in Jersey! #thedadsfilm #protecttransyouth #allyship #njfilm #teaneckfilmfestival by @littlelightprods
