My usual system is to do some fun activities together in the morning, and get out for some fresh air, and then get a couple of hours of work done after lunch while my son entertains himself with a combination of his own activities and some telly. I’ve also mastered the art of playing most board games whilst sewing 💁🏼‍♀️ plus there’s a few holiday club days, childcare swaps with friends and some big family days out! Most of my posts feature hoops because that’s the most common choice, but you can absolutely have a frame instead if you’d like one! Here are three things to know if you want your embroidery piece in a frame…⭐ I’ll usually ask you to pick out a frame and then send it to me to do the framing, because…⭐ Framing embroidery is a bit trickier than popping a photo into a frame, since you need to put the fabric under tension to display it properly. Of course, if this really doesn’t work for you, I can give you some tips for framing it yourself ⭐ I also strongly recommend leaving out the glass, not only because it’s harder to fit in a standard picture frame (since embroidery isn’t completely flat) but also because having the glass on top makes it much harder to see all the gorgeous texture that embroidery creates 🔗 this particular piece was a special commission combining my pet portraits and landscapes! It can be really hard to know what to say when someone’s been bereaved, but as someone who’s been there, saying nothing at all is the worst option. You might be worried about bringing up the subject of their person, but trust me, it’s already on their minds - so if you say nothing, you’re just leaving them alone with it. I’m always honoured when I get orders for these little forget-me-not memorials. Don’t get me wrong, crisp high-def photos do make my life easier! But I’ve embroidered multiple bouquets with just phone photos (including the one in this reel!) and it’s not a problem. Here’s 3 things you can do if you’re not sure about the quality of photos you’ve got for an order:1. Chat to me! Lots of customers tell me apologetically that the photos aren’t that good and then when I see them, they’re actually fine. I’m always happy to chat before you order so feel free to ask questions.2. Send me plenty of photos - if what you’ve got is phone photos taken by a friend, the more you can give me the better. It all helps me build up a detailed impression of the bouquet.3. Give me a list of the flowers used - you don’t need to itemise every single one, but if you can tell me the key blooms, I can look up additional reference photos to help me. I had lots of lovely interested comments and questions about my volunteering with @dorothyhousehc after I mentioned it in a recent post, so I thought I’d answer a few FAQs. It’s immensely meaningful to me and I’m always happy to talk about it. Is there anything else you’d like to know? A few other quick things:- our volunteering service, organised by the hospice, specifically visits people in hospital. There are other volunteering services for home visits and the hospice itself.- I was given lots of training at the start and get plenty of opportunities to attend relevant workshops for more learning.- We don’t do any medical or personal care. We’re there to help fill the role of a friend or family member, particularly when they can’t be there or the patient doesn’t have anyone. #volunteering #endoflifecare #letstalkaboutdeath by @littleloopembroidery
