POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Out now! 🎉🎵🎹💃🕺🥳

Go have a listen through the link in my bio, available on all good streaming services 🙂 (and a whole bunch I've never heard of 😅)

I'm happy to release Tabula Rasa into the world, and I'm looking forward to moving on to explore the direction it took me in (particularly the last 4 tracks) a lot further!

(Once my birthday celebrations are over, which also happens to be today 😅)

Hope you all enjoy Tabula Rasa 😊

More new stuff brewing...

(Amusingly, this is currently titled "Pianononono", but it won't be when it's finished, don't worry! 😅)

(It'll probably be called "Pianononono final final version 3" by then 😂)

Spent some time setting up my new @prsguitars Hollowbody II Piezo today and gave my other guitars a bit of love too, because they've not been adjusted since I moved.

Still some work to do, but since I had them all in the same room I thought I'd take a quick family portrait 🎸📷😅

Rituals - they're funny old things, aren't they? This is one of mine - every time I release an EP or album, it gets a space on the stairs up to the studio 🤷‍♂️👍🙂

What're your rituals? 🤔

(My new album, "Tabula Rasa", is out now. Check out the link in my bio to stream it)

Working on "Solitude" in the new studio. It's not far from being finished. Then I need to finish the last track on the album and move on to mixing and mastering. I'm taking my time, partly because I've just moved into a new house and have decorating things to do too, and partly because I'm at peace with the fact that it'll take as long as it takes 😊

That said, I do want to get it finished because I have a bunch of new ideas that I want to explore for the next album! 😅

How it started, vs how it's going...

When I put my synth rig together a few years ago I lived in a little terraced house in Brighton and was massively restricted on space. When I moved away and bought a new house on my own, space for a proper studio was a priority, and now I have it ☺️

The gear I have is better organised. The cabling better managed. Most of all though, I have more space. I can expand if I want. I can move synths around to suit my workflow or add more without having to panic about where they're going to go or having to rewire everything to fit them in.

Most of all though, it really feels like a creative, inspiring space rather than 4 crappy, cramped, imposing walls.

I love it 🥰

Here's a quick recap of where the Tabula Rasa album is at so far (not mixed or mastered yet):

1. The Heaviness of Air: A slow burn, building intro track which ends full of heavily overdriven, distorted, glitching synths.

2. Momentary Flashes of Light: It's stabby, it's arpy, it's bassy...

3. Embers: This is all about contrast. Pianos, distorted bass synths.

4. Pockets of Silence: Mid-century artistic musings. Lots of bass and jazzy piano with a bit of a twist to it.

5. Solitude: Gentle piano and strings. Originally just a solo piano piece called Solitude, I decided I wanted to add something to it, hence the strings (this track is still being worked on pretty heavily)

6. Tabula Rasa: The title track, and as the name suggests, Tabula Rasa is about starting afresh, whether that be in a new mindset, a new place, a new job, or a new relationship. New beginnings.

I'm considering adding one more track (primarily as a way of putting off having to mix and master the album, but let's pretend it's because I'm feeling super inspired in the new studio instead 😅), but I'll see whether that takes off or not in the next couple of weeks.

Aiming for an autumn release, I think 🤔
