Education is power — and informed members are strong members. 💪🏾✊🏾

LAACC 183 Workshop Series (3/8) continues as we equip our members with the knowledge they need to navigate the workplace with confidence and clarity. From understanding the grievance process and writing strong incident reports, to knowing your rights under the CBA and standing firm against workplace harassment — this information is not optional, it’s essential.

When our members understand the Union Constitution & By-Laws, their legal protections, and proper reporting procedures, they protect themselves, strengthen their brothers and sisters, and uplift the entire Local.

Empowerment through education means:
✔️ Knowing your rights
✔️ Understanding your responsibilities
✔️ Protecting your job and your dignity
✔️ Building collective strength

An educated membership is a united membership — and in unity, there is strength.

As Black History Month comes to an end, we want to thank the Premier, MPP Smith and the Government of Ontario for hosting and inviting LiUNA Local 183 to take part in the 10th anniversary celebration of Black History Month at Queen’s Park.

It was an honour to join leaders from across the province to recognize the achievements, resilience, and lasting contributions of Black leaders, workers, and communities across our province.

We were especially proud to attend alongside members of the LiUNA African American Canadian Caucus, whose leadership continues to strengthen our union and the communities we help build.

Together, we remain committed to building a stronger, more inclusive future for the skilled trades and for Ontario.

We stand on the shoulders of those who built, fought, and paved the way before us. This Black History Month, we don’t just remember history—we continue it. ✊🏾

Through unity, strength, and hard work, the LiUNA African American Canadian Caucus is building more than structures—we’re building legacy, opportunity, and a future where our voices are heard and our presence is felt.

From the jobsite to the community, we rise together. Showing up is power. Organizing is strength. Change is ours to build.

Join us this Sunday, February 22, 2026, for the 1st of 8 sessions focused on education and empowerment as we dive into understanding our union bylaws & constitution—because knowing your rights is the first step to strengthening our voice and creating real change.

As a caucus, we stand on our mission:
“To identify, promote, and support issues of cultural, legislative, political, educational, economic development, and civil and social action that address the needs and interests of LiUNA members of African descent—while encouraging our membership to carry the message of our union into the broader community to increase market share and strengthen the influence of our union for the benefit of all members.”

Our focus in action:
• Building Relationships
• Organizing the Unorganized
• Voter Empowerment
• Education and Training
• Coalition Building
• Community Organizing
• Mentoring
• LiUNA Awareness Programs

Let’s grow together, stay informed, and stand united.
