🚨‼️The Struggle Cycling Hill Climb Race 2026‼️🚨

Keeping it real with the pain face first 😂🥵

But WHAT an epic event.

My first ever hill climb race — and what a place to do it. The atmosphere was unreal, everyone was absolutely buzzing and I’m now obsessed with hill climbs.

⏱️ Official time: 21:37
🏆 13th female
🤝 9th team and 🥇 team with the 3 fastest riders!

And honestly… not bad for a girl who’s only been riding for 1 year and 5 months 🚴🏼‍♀️

I’ve attempted this climb three times now and somehow managed to cut my time from 32:31 → 20:09 on the segment. That’s 12 minutes 22 seconds faster since February 2026!

So, so chuffed with that.

HUGE thank you to @lakesroadclub @colddarknorth @wheelbase.co.uk @voomnutrition and as always @giant_store_kendal for this gorgeous machine !

Were you there yesterday, or have you ever tried this beast of a climb?! 👇🏼

Cycling is a passion that has brought me closer to my late nanna in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

My nanna, Molly, was a second mum to me growing up and my grief is still extremely raw. I miss her dearly every single day and the loss is something I’m constantly living with.

I want to start processing my grief, and a big reason I’m so proud to have developed a passion for cycling is because my nanna was the first cyclist in my family — even though she never knew or saw me ride.

Cycling mentally helps me process so much, and it has changed my life in almost every possible way. I really want to advocate for the power of cycling and the positive impact it can have on mental health and grief.

Grief is a wound you live with. And for me, cycling helps me cope with the stresses of life, my grief, and makes me feel connected to my nanna because I know she’s beaming down at me.

Can anyone else relate to finding comfort or healing through a passion? 🤍

Fred Whitton 2026 - Hardknott Pass.

Often sited as the hardest climb in England and I can see why! It is unrelenting with 33% ramp ups.

This is my raw, unfiltered audio from the climb.
I had to push and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s the majority. Totally epic achievement for those who managed it!

Tell me your experience of this climb... and if you haven’t ridden it before, add it to your list (but be warned the descents on each site are brutal!)
