Friday at Live Edge Artisan. One of the largest tables to ever grace our makers table. This 20ft Black Walnut bookmatch was embellished with 4 sets of ebony laces down the center of the table, an enormous project to take on but the final result was truly breathtaking. Sitting on a custom brushed steel base always fabricated in house here at Live Edge Artisan. Finished with @rubiomonocoatusa to bring a long lasting durability! It took over 10 people to move this and set it in place as a conference table in michigan! taken in Live Edge Artisan by @liveedgeartisan

Wednesday at Live Edge Artisan. It’s bookmatching day! These black walnut and english walnut slabs, started as rough sewn lumber and go through a rigorous process of rooting through what matches best and making sure everything such as the grain, lines up perfect! These have more air drying to do before it goes through the kiln process and will eventually be ready to be turned into finished furniture. All 5 tops are currently available! #liveedgeartisan #royaloakmi #handmade #functionalart #blackwalnut taken in Live Edge Artisan by @liveedgeartisan

When we constructed this Red Oak piece we were not sure how it was going to turn out. At the same time we were wiping off the finish a lovely couple walked in, they walked by so much inventory straight up to this, the lady said "this is the one" before it was even dry, the husband looked at me and said "she knows what she wants" and this became the Navarro table. Ill add a special friendship was born that day and we still talk to the Navarro family on a regular basis. by @liveedgeartisan

Wednesday at Live Edge Artisan. Waterpopping is a technique used for sanding. Wetting the wood raises the grain between sanding grits and allows the sander to remove even more material. Eventually when finish time comes around, it allows the finish to absorb very evenly across the table top surface. This is red oak, alot of movement and character in this piece! Stay tuned! #liveedgeartisan #royaloakmi #handmade #functionalart #redoak taken in Live Edge Artisan by @liveedgeartisan

Tuesday at Live Edge Artisan. One of the most important steps in insuring large table tops stay stable over a lifetime, is structural C channel. This top is close to 5’ wide and 12’ long, in which inlaying C channel into the bottom side gives it a solid reference to enhance stability for hundreds of years to come! #liveedgeartisan #handmade #royaloakmi #blackwalnut #functionalart taken in Live Edge Artisan by @liveedgeartisan

Wednesday at Live Edge Artisan. This is Ambrosia Maple. A variation of silver maple, the ambrosia beetle causes all these neat mineral trails through the heartwood. It creates such unique 1/1 patterns and this one takes the cake! And in addition a matching ambrosia cutting board! This will be installed as a countertop for a coffee station, truly a remarkable look. #liveedgeartisan #royaloakmi #functionalart #ambrosiamaple #handmade taken in Live Edge Artisan by @liveedgeartisan
