POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
In April 1992, during rehearsals for the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, Annie Lennox joined David Bowie and Queen for a run-through of “Under Pressure.” What started as a rehearsal quickly turned into a jaw-dropping performance. Lennox’s powerful vocals left everyone in the room impressed, and even David Bowie couldn’t hide his admiration as she delivered one unforgettable note after another.

Although it was never meant to be the final performance, many fans still consider this rehearsal one of the most underrated versions of Under Pressure. It’s a rare glimpse of legendary musicians simply enjoying the music and pushing each other to new heights.

Do you think this rehearsal was even better than the live performance?

Sevendust is an American alternative metal band formed in 1994 in Atlanta. The group is known for blending heavy riffs with melodic elements and emotional lyrics, creating a distinctive sound that helped shape the late ‘90s and early 2000s metal scene.

The band’s classic lineup includes Lajon Witherspoon (vocals), Clint Lowery and John Connolly (guitars), Vince Hornsby (bass), and Morgan Rose (drums). They gained early attention with their self-titled debut album in 1997 and broke further into the mainstream with albums like Home (1999) and Animosity (2001).

Sevendust stands out for its dynamic contrast between aggressive instrumentation and soulful vocals, as well as its reputation for powerful live performances. Over the years, the band has maintained a loyal fanbase and consistently released new music, proving their longevity in a constantly evolving genre.

Aaron Lewis delivers a raw and emotional performance of “What Hurts The Most” during an intimate acoustic show in Lake Tahoe on August 6, 2011.

Best known as the lead singer of Staind, Lewis is known for his distinctive voice, honest lyrics, and ability to convey pain and vulnerability through music. In this stripped-down performance, the focus shifts away from heavy production and towards the emotion behind every word.

Originally recorded by Rascal Flatts, “What Hurts The Most” explores the pain of loss, regret, and the things left unsaid. In Lewis’ hands, the song takes on a different atmosphere, blending his signature rock vocals with the intimacy of an acoustic performance.

Sometimes, all you need is a voice, a guitar, and a song that hits a little too close to home.

Does Aaron Lewis’ version hit harder than the original?

When David Bowie performed “Under Pressure” live, Gail Ann Dorsey played a crucial role in bringing the song to life.

Dorsey is an American bassist, singer and songwriter who became a key member of Bowie’s touring band in the 1990s. Her musical versatility and powerful vocals made her an integral part of his live performances.

During “Under Pressure,” she famously took on Freddie Mercury’s vocal parts, including the song’s iconic high notes and harmonies. Rather than simply recreating the original, she brought her own intensity and personality to the performance while honouring the legacy of both Bowie and Mercury.

Her performance is a reminder that the right musician can help turn an already legendary song into something truly special on stage.

Originally written and recorded by Alice in Chains for their 1994 Jar of Flies EP, “Nutshell” has become one of the band’s most emotionally powerful songs. Its legendary MTV Unplugged performance with Layne Staley only cemented that legacy.

Years later, Aaron Lewis took on the song during a 2011 performance. The moment someone calls out “Nutshell,” his entire presence seems to change. He pauses, takes it in, and then those first notes begin.

From there, it feels less like a performance and more like he’s completely lost inside the song.

Some songs don’t need to be loud to hit hard. They just need to be felt.

What song instantly gives you chills when you hear the first few notes?

In 1991, George Michael delivered one of the most iconic performances of “Careless Whisper” at Rock in Rio II in Rio de Janeiro. The song, originally released in 1984, had already become a worldwide hit, but performances like this showed just how powerful Michael’s voice and stage presence could be in a live setting.

What makes this moment special is the combination of that instantly recognizable saxophone melody, Michael’s emotional delivery and the huge festival atmosphere. Even years after its release, “Careless Whisper” still had the ability to completely captivate a massive crowd.

Do you think George Michael was one of the greatest live vocalists of his generation?

On December 22, 1990, Alice In Chains took the stage at Seattle’s historic Moore Theatre during the Facelift era. The band had released their debut album only a few months earlier, and “Man in the Box” was already becoming one of their defining songs.

This performance captures the original lineup: Layne Staley, Jerry Cantrell, Mike Starr and Sean Kinney at a raw and relatively early point in their career. The footage was later released as Live Facelift on VHS in 1991, preserving a snapshot of the band just before their breakthrough to a much wider audience.

There’s something special about hearing “Man in the Box” performed in Seattle before Alice In Chains had become the legends they would eventually be.

During the making of Avenged Sevenfold, the band worked on “A Little Piece of Heaven”, a song that would become one of their most distinctive and ambitious tracks. The recording process brought together heavy metal, orchestral elements, theatrical vocals and a dark, almost cinematic atmosphere. It was a major departure from a straightforward metal song and helped give the album its unique character.

Years later, A Little Piece of Heaven remains one of the songs fans immediately associate with Avenged Sevenfold’s experimental side.

Chad Smith showcases his drumming on the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ iconic track “Under the Bridge.” The song is known for its emotional build, with the drums starting relatively restrained before gradually adding intensity as the arrangement develops. Smith’s playing leaves space for the vocals and guitar while helping drive the song toward its powerful chorus.

Released in 1991 on Blood Sugar Sex Magik, “Under the Bridge” became one of the band’s defining songs and remains a fan favorite decades later.
