@thecab’s new record, Chasing Crowns, out tomorrow, is really the final piece to the “emo reunion” era for me. I listened to Symphony Soldier in my earbuds throughout high school like it was the oxygen I needed to breathe. After so many teasers over the last 15 years that never came to fruition, there was definitely a point where I was ready to give up entirely on the idea of them ever coming back. While it was an absolutely exhausting journey as a fan, I can only imagine how tumultuous it was for @bohnes and @alextmarshall to live through firsthand. In any case, I’m so relieved those days are over and that I’ve got something new to listen to on both my best days and my worst nights.

Boycott Heaven, The Format’s first album in 20 years and Nate’s first in 11, out today, is an instantaneous session of serious, sonic therapy for me.

There’s this feeling of coming home bubbling up, but it’s not to a place or sound; it’s to myself.

It’s to the part of me that never got to say a proper goodbye to Nate’s voice, which guided me from age 12 to 20 or so.

It’s to that kid who drove hours home, from a college I couldn’t wait to drop out of, to see him play live to an amphitheater of people that included a complete stranger, the future love of my life.

But it’s also to that person I was just 4 months ago in front of the barricade, waiting with bated breath to see if @nateruess and @sammeans, destined to write songs together, would really be taking the stage again right in front of my lens.

I could be inspired to write infinitely about this band. For now, I’ll just close with saying: I’m so grateful to be in this moment. Thanks for coming back to us @theformat. taken in Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum by @liveontoor
