YOU’RE AT MY SHORTY’S HOUSE….?! Is a perfect instance to use Estar instead of Ser 🤣

Two of the most important verbs you need to learn to conjugate and understand in your roas to fluency in spanish are ESTAR and SER

Both of the verbs mean “to be” which sounds weird but it is very simple

Today we focus on ESTAR

Estar has to do with

1) Location such I’m at home, I’m on my way to the store

2) state of being (temporary) I am sad, angry, happy (this EXCLUDES being cold hot things of that nature)

3) this is why two of Spanish’s most popular phrases “como estas” y “donde estas” use Estar, because both of those answers give temporary answers.

Now when conjugating Estar in the present tense the yo form which means “I” is different, other than that it follows regular AR verb sequencing. So we have

Yo Estoy - I am
Tu Estas - You are
El, Ella, Usted Esta - he/she is

Nosotros Estamos - we are
Vosotros Estaís - y’all are
Ellos, Ellas, Ustedes Estan - they are

Stay tuned for the next video where we will go over SER and it’s differences!

VERBS ARE THE ANSWER! And I will die on that hill. People wonder how I learned Spanish in high school and the reason is because I learned VERBS first.

Vocabulary is great and pretty simple to learn and know you’ve made progress BUT without learning how to piece together your verbs in context you will never be able to put together confident sentences in a Romance language like Spanish, where verbs matter more than subjects most of the time.

The trick for me was singing the conjugations in my head which to be honest I only did so that I would remember them on tests 😂 but it worked out!! Once you begin to get these verb conjugations stuck in your head you will finally begin to unlock the speaking barriers you are currently having when you go to say anything beyond “Hola, como estas”

Make sure you follow so you don’t miss my 90 day “no sabo” to “lo hablo” series!!

SPANISH IS HARD TO LEARN…. If you prioritize ANYTHING other than learning how to conjugate verbs.

Learning a bunch of elementary and colloquial phrases is NOT going to help you speak confidently or properly if you don’t know how to structure your verb usage.

You can misuse verbs in English very frequently and still get your point across but it is close to IMPOSSIBLE to do that in Spanish because the way you pronounce a verb AUTOMATICALLY includes a subject even if you don’t say the subject first. You can say “when I go yesterday” in English and get your point across but if you say “cuando tu voy” in Spanish that literally means “when you I go” what sense does that make. LEARN VERBS FIRST.

I will be dropping a little jingle/song to help learn Verb conjugation at 5000 followers! #spanishlessons #spanishclass #spanishforbeginners by @livewithsaint
