POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Since early this year, @tadashi_dp and I have been filming inside homes left toxic by the LA wildfires. Our short doc, STILL STANDING, is premiering at the 2026 #SundanceFilmFestival !

Shot on 16mm, the film follows residents facing an impossible decision: Should they risk their health to go home?

We made this film to document a loss that felt almost invisible. Nearly a year since the fires, many people with standing homes are still in limbo. We can’t wait to share it with you.

And a very special thank you to the many Altadena residents who welcomed us into their lives during chaotic and painful times. This film was only possible because of them.

For decades, dozens of boat dwellers lived rent free on a bay just north of San Francisco. A few holdouts remained as a deadline loomed to leave the water.

I went with @iancbates @dvdwyer @ladyp.mov to meet them.

Cyanide, lithium, asbestos, lead — these are some of the contaminants found inside Altadena homes. Everyone we filmed with had their own approach to safety. Some wore full hazmat suits. Some went unmasked.

Earlier this year I met a landlord housing people in sheds and storage units in his L.A. backyard. I followed one tenant for several weeks, as he tried to find a new spot to live.

STILL STANDING has a home, and a release date!

We are so excited to be teaming up with @povdocs and @time to bring this film to audiences.

POV has always been the standard for bold, timely independent docs, and we are honored to be included among this year’s lineup. We’re also one of six Academy Award contenders in the slate!

Such a whirlwind week saying hello and goodbye to Park City. Premiering our film at the Library Center Theatre was an incredible honor, and we have been overwhelmed by the response to the film.

Thank you @sundanceorg for inviting us, and allowing us to share this story! And thank you to our participants for sharing your story with us. See you at our next screening in LA! by @liviaar
