There’s a tremendous amount of strength in showing up exactly as you are. 💪🏾
That’s what this collective represents: a space to come together authentically, share honestly, listen without judgment, and remember that we don’t have to carry everything alone.
Tomorrow, September 18th @ 11 a.m. PST, we’re creating that space again at Hour to Honor.
Come as you are. Bring that heavy load you’re carrying and join a community committed to honoring the people who care for everyone else, too.
There’s still time to register online and in-person. We’d love to have you in the room! (Link in bio)

5 Lessons We Learned About Environmental Racism 🌎 ➡️
Last month’s Hour to Honor explored environmental racism through conversations about health, community, power, and our shared responsibility to care for the places we call home. It challenged us to think differently about our relationship with our communities, our health, and the environment.

What happens when a community comes together to learn? I know for sure, perspective changes.

This month, we’re continuing that mission by focusing on homelessness, another issue that impacts the health and well-being of our communities.

📅 Join us July 24 as we continue learning, listening, and taking action together! #environmentalracism#communityadvocate #advocacy #caregiver #healthyliving by @livingintact

Did you know that people of color make up 42% of the U.S. population, but represent 57% of those living in counties with unhealthy levels of air pollution, and 53% of those in counties with the worst air quality?

This was our conversation for Hour to Honor this month! I got a chance to ask some folks about their thoughts on #environmentalracism. One woman, I spoke to says the reason behind the impact on people of color is simply one word–POWER.

What do you think about this? Have you felt the impacts of environmental racism? Share it below! #communityadvocacy #advocate #community #healing by @livingintact

“Every month we come here to Blackbird and we have an hour to honor the people who care for people.” — Lisa Gordon-Cain 💜
At Hour to Honor, the goal isn’t just to host another event—it’s to create intimate spaces where people can let their guard down, share honestly, build community, and have conversations that matter. This month’s conversation will focus on survivors, allies, and campus rape culture—a reality that continues impacting millions across the country.
According to the Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network (RAINN):
📍13% of ALL students on college campuses experience rape or sexual assault, with rates at 26.4% for undergraduate women
📍26.4% of female and 6.8% of male undergraduate students experience rape or sexual assault involving physical force, violence, or incapacitation.
Many survivors never report their assault due to fear, shame, or lack of support. These conversations are difficult, but certainly necessary. Healing, advocacy, education, and community support all begin when people feel safe enough to speak and know they’re not alone.
📍Join us May 29 for Hour to Honor: Survivors & Allies – Campus Rape Culture. RSVP for Livestream and in person

Sometimes–community looks like showing up for someone in the smallest moments.
Listen, a helping hand and a shared conversation can make all the difference. Even, someone making sure a mother carrying her child still feels seen, supported, and cared for too.
At Why I Am A Woman’s Hour to Honor, we believe healing, advocacy, and community happen in the big conversations—but also in these quiet moments of care for one another. 🤍🤍🤍
This is what building a collective looks like. As we prepare for our next gathering on Friday, May 29, focused on survivors, allies, and campus rape culture, we continue creating spaces rooted in compassion, safety, education, and support. Join us on livestream or in-person.
I often think about so many people navigating these hard experiences alone, no one should have to do it by themselves. Drop a heart ❤️ if you believe it takes a village to make an impact! #womensupportingwomen #caregiver #community #caregiving #hourtohonor by @livingintact

Knowledge alone does not save Black women.

This is about systems.
This is about response time.
This is about believing Black women …the first time.

TEACHABLE 🌱

You don’t need the full picture to take the next step.

You need awareness of where you are…
and trust to move anyway.

ALTRUISM…

Building a circle of care for others has a way of circling back to you …especially in those seasons when you’ve become almost unrecognizable to yourself.

Pouring into others reminds you of who you are, and who you’re becoming♥️🙏🏽

TEACHABLE🙏🏽

Instead of replaying my problems, mistakes, or failures, I sit with the lesson.
Every experience carries wisdom and from that wisdom comes the “new new” @iamwill speaks of.
That’s where innovation lives. That’s how change is born. And that’s why I experience it.
