CHOOSE LOVE - FROM IMAGE TO PAPER.

Last June, I travelled to Milan to watch Choose Love come to life.

Printed at Grafiche Milani, a printing house founded in 1906, the book was produced using the offset printing process: each colour transferred onto aluminium plates, and finally onto paper.

There is an incomparable feeling in seeing a body of work become a book. It feels much more intense than simply printing and framing individual photographs. Perhaps it is the effect of accumulation of seeing image after image, page after page. The photographs begin to speak to one another, to echo, reinforce and transform each other.

And then there is the choreography of the printing floor: several printers working simultaneously, each gesture precise, every movement part of a beautifully coordinated ballet. Watching the pages come off the press, checking them one by one, and slowly seeing the whole book take shape was an experience in itself.

I was also lucky to meet Rosita, whose many years of experience in printing proved invaluable throughout the process. Page after page, she helped me carefully monitor and adjust the colours, making sure the images remained as close as possible to what I had envisioned.

Offset printing is a true industrial art… so much to learn from Rosita @livresetcatalogues at @grafichemilani - I still find hard to process the amount of work behind it all. Feeling grateful for such a wonderful yet painful experience 💕

Simulated Lovers brings together photographs, video stills, texts, and digital experiments developed between 2020 and 2025. Extracted from a larger ongoing multimedia project, the publication assembles five years of work into a single volume.

Published by Patrick Remy Studio in an edition of 500 copies, the book is presented as a hardcover volume with a debossed title and Japanese binding, measuring 17.5 × 24.5 cm and spanning 160 pages. The edition includes five different band variations, with 100 copies produced for each version. Printed in Italy by Grafiche Milani, the publication was released in 2026.
