5+ years doing this refinishing thing full time!
I started this as a side hustle in 2017 and finally was able to take the plunge FT in 2020. What a blessing it has been. My actual anniversary date is September 7. I was reminded that I needed to share this before the year was over because it was already worked up and sitting in my drafts. Typical… Social media has been on the back burner these days. That is what kind of year it’s been! Busy, first time Mom, business owner… all the things!
Thank you for sticking around on my journey! I am looking forward to the new year and all of the adventures it may bring!

Cheers! -LM

After spending so much time refinishing kitchens lately, it felt great to switch things up and tackle a piece of furniture! 🤎

There’s something so satisfying about taking a well-loved piece and transforming it into something beautiful again. The rich wood tones and natural character make this one such a timeless statement piece.

This chest was a client-commissioned piece, but I have plenty of unfinished furniture inventory waiting for its own transformation!

I’ll be getting to some of those pieces in the near future, and chances are, they’ll be available for purchase once they’re finished!

Keep an eye out — you never know what might be coming to the shop next! 🤎 taken in Huntington, West Virginia by @liz_modern

I’ve been busy giving kitchens a glow-up for the past several months, and my furniture inventory has been patiently (or not so patiently 😂) piling up!

It’s officially time to get back to tackling some furniture projects. Now, the question is… which piece should get the makeover first? 👀

Stay tuned for some furniture transformations coming your way! ✨

Ps!! DM if you want to claim anything. taken in Huntington, West Virginia by @liz_modern

Sometimes you just have to work with what you have.

Yes, in my opinion, the floors and countertops could use replacing—but that doesn’t mean the entire kitchen needs to be ripped out.

Projects don’t always have to happen all at once. Sometimes the best approach is to work in phases, tackle what makes the biggest impact first, and update the rest when the time is right.

✨ Save the cabinets. Spend where it matters. And make your kitchen work for you.

If you have a trash can drawer, it’s inevitable… it’s going to get disgusting. 😂

People are just out here living life. It happens. 🤷🏼‍♀️

But refinisher friends—do you find these drawers dreadful to work on, or secretly SUPER satisfying?

For me, it’s always a little bit of a shock when I open it… 😳
But then getting it all cleaned up and looking brand new?

SO. SATISFYING. ✨

One thing I never get tired of? Seeing a dramatic before & after. 🤩

I originally refinished this kitchen three years ago, and it has always been one of my absolute favorite projects.

Recently, my clients reached back out and said they’ve absolutely loved their kitchen—but after three years of being loved and lived in, it was ready for a little freshening up.

It was such an honor to be back in this space and give this beautiful kitchen the refresh it deserved, while keeping the look they loved so much.

Elegant, cozy, and still just as beautiful as I remembered. 🤍

There’s something pretty special about getting to return to a kitchen you refinished years ago and see how it has become part of someone’s home. taken in Huntington, West Virginia by @liz_modern

Just wrapped up another kitchen refinishing project—and this kitchen was no stranger to me! 🤍

I originally gave these cabinets a full refinish three years ago, and after being well-loved and lived in, they were ready for a little refresh.

When I first refinished this kitchen, the cabinets were originally an off-white. We went with a green for the first refinish, and they loved the color so much that there was no changing it this time around! They simply wanted the same beautiful green refreshed and brought back to life. They also discovered the original hardwood floors underneath the tile three years ago, right before I started refinishing the kitchen. What a bonus! Just gorrrg!

One of my favorite things about revisiting a client’s home is seeing how they’ve truly made it their own. The personal touches, the cozy details, and all the little things that make a house feel like home.

It’s always such an inspiration to see. And I’m so glad I got to give this kitchen another little glow-up! ✨ Just wrapped up another kitchen refinishing project—and this kitchen was no stranger to me! 🤍

Consider this your sign NOT to tear out your kitchen. 👏🏼

It was such an honor to refinish this kitchen for my clients! They had just purchased the home and wanted to give the kitchen a fresh, updated look without replacing cabinets that were still in great shape.

I actually find that I get hired quite often by new homeowners. There’s just something about buying a house and wanting everything to feel fresh, clean, and like YOURS—especially the kitchen.

And trust me… this one came with some crusty deliciousness. 😂 But after some serious prep, a whole lot of elbow grease, and a fresh finish, I am AMAZED at how it turned out! 🤩

Why tear out perfectly good cabinets when you can transform what you already have and put that money toward the upgrades that really make a difference?

For this project, I also provided the countertops and backsplash through @cambriasurfaces. I work with some incredible certified installers, so I can help bring even more of your kitchen vision together.

A quick pass with an ultra-fine abrasive between coats can help smooth out tiny imperfections and give you a much more refined finish.

You don’t always need a fancy tool! A simple piece of paper or even a brown paper bag can work great for lightly polishing the surface before your final coat.

It’s a small step, but it can make a BIG difference in how smooth that finished surface feels. ✨ by @liz_modern
