B I G J O Y ✨

These days I’m living life for her: my tiny self, summering like a queen. Enjoying a treat and some fresh air after playing in the sprinkler. What a life 😍

This summer I decided to create more time to nourish myself at every layer of my being. While I’m not perfect, I think I’m doing a pretty good job at it. I’m so grateful to be in a place within myself where I’m tapped into what I need, what feels good in this moment, and what will bring me joy. Remember to fill your cup first, my friends ❤️

FINALLY 🎣 fishing appreciation post ✨

It all started back in the early 90’s with a snoopy pole (iykyk)…and now I’ve graduated to a fly rod!

• Last summer I took a 101 class with @coloradowomenonthefly @uncharted_outdoorswomen @womenofcolorado
• Then I bought all my gear for fly fishing 💸💸💸
• Next I took a 201 class in the river
• But I didn’t catch any fish all summer ☹️
• I hung up all my gear for the winter ❄️
• And decided to take a fly tying class at @charliesflybox to dive deeper and learn more about bugs 🦟 (plus it seemed like another fun arts and crafts hobby and you all know me well!)

Well last week was the absolute best - I got to combine my love of hiking and fishing (which is totally what I want to do with this new hobby) and I finally caught some fish! And my friend caught a fish on a fly that I tied - talk about satisfaction.

I think the joy in my face explains itself 😍

Out in nature all the layers of life seem to dissolve and I can relax into myself - fishing makes it so easy for me to do this and just have FUN ✨

This American girl did July 4th weekend right 🇺🇸🧨

• kicked off with pizza & live music at @highmountainpies
• soaked in the mountain goats, wildflowers, and 14er summit views on Huron Peak
• watched @lippaj display true grit and determination at @ltraceseries Silver Rush 50 mile run
• enjoyed time in Leadville, one of my favorite funky mountain towns
• found some peace and quiet in a day of hiking and fishing

Feeling grateful for hiking season 🏔️

Hiking and running are my favorite ways to exercise outdoors. The fresh air, the views, the snacks - I’m here for all of it!

In the past two weeks I’ve finished two hikes that have been on my radar for a while, and it has me thinking about gratitude.

So often we see reflections of gratitude for happy or positive things. But did you know that gratitude is actually about being grateful for it all? The whole experience, even aspects that were challenging or hard. Gratitude is being able to say that, despite the challenges, I am grateful for it all - not just a musing on what’s going right in your life.

Hiking longer or harder trails is a microcosm of that experience for me. I’m grateful for the views AND the part where I’m struggling to move more than 20 steps at a time above 13,000 feet. The wildflowers AND accidentally getting my socks soaking wet. The fresh air AND forgetting my trekking poles. You get it :)

Remembering you today, bud 💔 somehow it has been 8 months without you this week and I still wish I could’ve said goodbye.

I like to remember you just like this, hiking and playing and doing what we both loved. You used to know when we were heading into the mountains. About 30 mins into a car ride you would get excited, and I will cherish the memories of all the hikes where you found the one tiny patch of snow left to roll in.

You brought joy to so many people, and I’m beyond grateful our souls crossed paths. Love you, Sambone ❤️
