Eli took this photo of us on my birthday at the top of Frying Pan Fire Tower off the Blue Ridge Parkway at sunset. I think it's my favorite ever. by @lizlars
I chose a long time ago to run towards everything that is good. To choose joy as my armor. To look ahead at what comes next, believing with my whole heart that it will be good. And so it will be. Like the light in dancing in the leaves of an old oak tree at the end of the day, joy waits to play with anyone who will notice her. #choosejoy☀️ #sheisfun by @lizlars
One of our first big camping trips with the kids was a ten day road trip through Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana where we carried our then 1-year-old and 2-year-old on our backs the entire time as we hiked through the Rocky Mountains, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. It's been 10 years this summer since that trip (what!), and even though all our big plans for this year haven't happened the way we thought they would, I think Zeb's definitely got it all figured out. 😂🌭#lifeisshortenjoyit by @lizlars
Back to one of our favorite cities. There’s never enough time to see it all, but that’s part of the magic. ✨ And for those wondering, yes, we were there Monday at the pyramids of Teotihuacan, right there atop the Temple of the Moon less than an hour before the shooter arrived and the tragic events of the day unfolded. Feeling incredibly sobered by the simple off-handed choices of the morning that placed us just minutes out of harms way, and praying for the family of the woman who lost her life and all those who were affected. 💔 Despite the heaviness of that day, we are carrying home with us the quieter gifts: the warmth and beauty of the people of Mexico and the simple joy of just being here together in a city so alive and so vibrant, with such a deeply layered history and culture. Mexico City continues to remind us—sometimes gently, sometimes starkly—to slow down, live fully, and to recognize and honor the impermanence of all things. ¡Viva México! 🇲🇽 by @lizlars
It’s been awhile, yeah? We’re still here, just adjusting to all of life as it comes, making sure priorities are kept in check and hearts are kept soft and open. I do miss connecting with you all and the forced slow down it takes to notice and document all the little things worth remembering here as the days fly by. Over the last year, we’ve acquired an adult child of 18-years-old, which is absolutely insane, a third teenager who’s on track to be the tallest of them all, and a second licensed driver with a new haircut (RIP to his glorious Tarzan hair). They are 18, 16, and 13 now, and life is full and fast and beautiful and we’re watching it fly by, holding on to this once-in-a-lifetime decade with arms wrapped tightly around these precious three and hands wide open. Brian turned 40 and then I did, and we are welcoming all that’s ahead with great reverence and excitement and expectation. What a privilege it is to grow through the years, in both age and decades earned wisdom and perception, what fulfillment there can be in choosing to do it fully, wide-eyed and awestruck at the goodness possible around each corner. We can’t escape the corners, of course, and this is not to say there haven’t been any along the way, but as @tarynsmithmovement (who just this very morning completed the first ever solo female row in history across the Atlantic Ocean at 25 years old) reminded us of yesterday on her last day at sea, this beautiful quote by Thich Nhất Hanh, “Thanks to impermanence, everything is possible.” So here’s to all that’s ahead, the goodness and possibility that endures in spite of it all. 🛶 by @lizlars

Summertime adventures are right around the corner and we can’t wait!🌲⛺️ by @lizlars
A little bookstore we once fell in love with. 📚❤️ Our last day in New Delhi with a train to catch and an hour to spare, what a pleasure it was to meet to the kindest and most generous bookshop keeper, a fourth generation bookseller going back over 90 years, and the great-grandson of Mr. Faqir Chand himself. by @lizlars
Currently knee deep in planning a summer route again through the incredibly stunning and tantalizingly mysterious American Southwest and so wishing I had shared more from all our recent travels. Truth is, in just the last two years we’ve been all over the place and sometimes I get so caught up in what comes next that I neglect to share all that’s been. Singapore, India, Malaysia, The Philippines, Japan, Peru, Aruba, Brazil, Panama, and Mexico. We’ve acquired thousands and thousands of images, new perspectives, stories, and the complete and utter overwhelm of sharing it all the way it deserves to be shared. I’m a storyteller (not an influencer) and we’re simply here for the adventure of it all. And I gotta keep saying it, as far as adventure goes, one of my very favorite trips in recent past was literally right next door in New Mexico. ☀️ #adventuretillwedie by @lizlars
All the river days ahead 💦🙌🏼 by @lizlars
March. A whirlwind. Our baby sister finally tied the knot. ❤️ But first! We went on an adventure and walked across the border into Mexico (so far we’ve flown across, rowed a boat across, swam, rode donkeys, and walked across 😆). We totally fell in love with Mexico City and did not get kidnapped. 🙌🏼 We celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. 💕 We found a statue of Mexican Brian. We made it home, picked up the kids, and flew to NC. So. Many. Cousins. ❤️ We realized how much we missed SO many people! We got real fancy and celebrated together. We finally made it home—completely exhausted—but so dang happy. by @lizlars
