Forever the paparazzi for cool rock formations. Explored with a local Navajo guide.
April–October (peak season): Brighter, more vibrant colors, but also more crowds and heat. I recommend booking well in advance and aiming for a midday tour, although honestly, you can’t go wrong with any time.
November–March: Fewer crowds and beautiful colors, especially between 10 AM and 2 PM, when the light really brings out the canyon’s details.
Recommended tour company: @kenstours
Don’t skip the gift shop! It’s a great way to support local Navajo artists and take home something meaningful from your adventure.
Where to stay: Page, AZ
Make it an adventure: close by you can explore Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, and Glen Canyon. Just over an hour from Page is Vermilion Cliffs National Monument

🎩 MANY HATS. ONE MISSION. 60 HOURS FROM VEGAS TO RENO. 🇺🇸

Some weekends you pick a lane. This wasn’t one of them. 😅

🎒 THURSDAY — North Las Vegas Readiness Center
Teamed up with the Travis Manion Foundation to deliver 20 backpacks loaded with school supplies to the National Guard Child & Youth Program. Military kids serve too — they just do it without the uniform.

🥃 FRIDAY — Underworld Distillery, Reno
Veteran Social Club Buddy Check! New faces, new stories, and that instant “you get it” connection only veterans share — camaraderie flowing in the Biggest Little City. This is what Camaraderie Cures looks like.

🎒🔬 SATURDAY — The Discovery, Reno
Back at it with TMF for Reno’s Back to School event at the science museum — 74 Army National Guard dependent kiddos walked out with backpacks, supplies, and a little more confidence for that first bell. 📚✏️

And the best part? We collected 28 more goals from the kids themselves — dreams they’re chasing this school year, written in their own words. Straight A’s, making the team, new friends, big things. We’re not just filling backpacks — we’re backing their goals. 🎯💛

👏 And none of this happens without my better half, Liz Erway — TMF Character Does Matter mentor and the tip of the spear for the Nevada National Guard Child & Youth Program. Sorting supplies side by side, setting up the Back to School event, leading the whole way. Lucky to serve this mission with her. Character does matter — Liz shows us how it’s done. 🫡💛

Part 2: Recognition
Our Viva St. Jude Executive Committee received Volunteer Group of the Year!
The why is why you do a number of things in life. Erica brought me in to volunteer at Viva St. Jude check-in years ago. The following year she asked if I wanted to head the Volunteer Committee. It was a simple and obvious decision to be more involved in the life-saving mission that St. Jude has to offer.
You do not do volunteer for recognition, you volunteer because it’s the right thing to do. You volunteer to raise awareness. You volunteer to build a stronger community. You share your talents to lessen the burden on others. Volunteering for Viva St. St. Jude does all of that. Though I’m successful in my career, volunteering continues to be a way I am able to give back. I’ve always said time is the most valuable thing I can give and I’m thankful I’m able to strengthen a community and St. Jude families lives with it.

Part 1: What’s within the walls?
You hear “children’s hospital, cancer, rare diseases, etc.” and I think we can all agree the image that comes to mind isn’t the prettiest.
You pray you don’t have to be checking in within those walls, but if you do, some of your worst days St. Jude turns into hope and inspiration.
There’s red wagons kids ride in, there’s patient artwork lining the walls, it’s vibrant, it’s welcoming, it’s full of life! There’s kids walking by with a smile saying hi to everyone. There’s researchers bringing cancer treating medicine from their lab to the hospital. There’s places of solitude. There’s connection within families experiencing the same/similar things. There’s a blue phone that translates all the languages so families can connect with their doctors. There’s Kay Kafe where kids get to choose meals they want and what fit their dietary restrictions. There’s no bill for any of this (travel and housing included) so families can focus on what matters most. There’s hope and there’s inspiration not just within these walls, but across the globe. That’s my why. #hope #inspiration by @lizvm09
