We said goodbye to our Sofie yesterday.
She was diagnosed with cancer in April, vets said she didn’t have long so we were determined to keep her happy and comfortable for her last days. She had mostly good days, happily eating all kinds of snacks and ruling the house.
Sofie was our first cat, I found her outside in a pile of branches at 2-3 weeks old, we took her to the shelter and were told she would be euthanized as they had no one to bottle feed. I had no idea how to care for her but I wasn’t going to let them take her life. She grew into a spicy cat and let us know with her teeth when she was done with all the attention! Because of her other cats have come into our home and hearts, litters of kittens have been raised and have found homes, dozens of feral cats have had a place to get consistent meals. Even my dad has fostered and adopted cats. Even though she preferred dogs, she saved so many cat lives just by existing.
I’m hoping her best friends, our pack of Shih-tzus guided her at the end and she’s currently in a cuddle puddle with Wesley, Angel, Spike and Annabelle
