A great privilege to collaborate with Bokförlaget Stolpe and present The Thersienstadt Diaries. Newly recovered diaries and novel written by Shoah survivor Pavel Fischl (Gabriel Dagan). Get a copy, give away a copy. The more testimonies collected and forwarded, it would help counteract history distortion and Shoah inversion. @judiskkultur @bokforlagetstolpe @marikastolpe @magnus.sward.photo @hallgrenlisa @contact.lindner @tora.hedin @matsalmegard @malinthortureby @konstakademien #judiskkultur #judiskkulturisverige #jewishcultureinsweden by @lizzie.scheja

I wish we didn’t need them, but since they say we do, I am happy that these were the ones hanging around us. Great work by the book fair’s security officers and the police throughout our stay. Thank you guys. Den judiska scenen, the Jewish Stage. @judiskkultur @bokmassan #judiskkultur #judiskkulturisverige #jewishcultureinsweden by @lizzie.scheja

Happy moments with Philippe Sands and Daniel Sandström (who took the photo). Superb keynote by Philippe at the Democracy event at the Concert Hall in Göteborg, arranged by DN, Svenska kyrkan, Bokmässan and Judisk kultur i Sverige. He really earned his dinner. @judiskkultur @philippesands @daniel_sandstrom_lund @_wiman @dagens_nyheter @svenskakyrkan @bokmassan @albertbonniersforlag #judiskkultur #judiskkulturisverige #jewishcultureinsweden by @lizzie.scheja

Happy and moved that my conversation with Eli Sharabi is published in the upcoming issue of Judisk Krönika. Eli is one of the most striking persons I have ever met, I think that the hundreds of people who came to listen to him this past June under Judisk kultur i Sverige’s auspices would agree. He did not get standing ovations for nothing. A few days after his visit in Stockholm, his house in Kibbutz Beeri was demolished (photo), same house where on October 7 his wife Lianne and daughters Noiya (16) and Yahel (13) were murdered by Hamas terrorists and their friends, and from where he was kidnapped to the tunnels of Gaza where he spent 491 days in horrific captivity. Eli Sharabi chose life after all. @eli_sharabi7 @sharon__sharabi @judiskkultur @yardenrok @sverigesjudiskakulturmagasin @magnus.sward.photo @historiska @aradestad @bokforlagetmaxstrom @madelainelevy #judiskkultur #judiskkulturisverige #jewishcultureinsweden by @lizzie.scheja

So happy to participate in Jonathan Brott’s release of his book ’Jiddishkejt, en bok om judisk humor’. A super brilliant guy, what more can I say. Soon on our stage in Stockholm but first - he will speak on our stage, Den judiska scenen, at the book fair in Göteborg. monter F01:29. See you there. The photo, by the way, was taken by Victor Brott, father of. Some photos of precious encounters on the Upper East Side taken during 2019-2023. Gloria Steinem, icon and symbol, but also down to earth, humble, generous, funny and warm, paved the way to women world-wide. And she lived as she preached. We connected when she became the recipient of the 2020 Gilel Storch Award. She could not travel to Sweden due to the pandemic so we went to her, conducted a memorable interview (moderated by fantastic Abby Pogrebin) and spent breathless hours together, touching history. During one of my visits she gave me a present: a dreamcatcher that I keep over my bed. Her colourful living room became an open-house for women who had written to her asking to meet. I participated in one of those fascinating meetings. Her father Leo Steinem was Jewish but she did not grow up with any religious identity. She did say though ’Never in my life have I identified myself as a Christian, but whenever there is antisemitism, I identify as a Jew’. And so I add a photo that I love of four strong Jewish feminists: Gloria together with Diane von Furstenberg, Bella Abzug and Barbra Streisand. You will continue to inspire us dear, beautiful Gloria. @judiskkultur @aniascheja @schejaskonst #gilelstorchaward by @lizzie.scheja

Look what I found. I guess there was nothing more exciting to write about back then. Press-stopp! no less. Warmest Thank You for congratulating me on my birthday. It was a beautiful Sunday, and Monday and Tuesday. This past year was filled with momentous events, privately and globally. I wish you, us, less headlines, more peace and calm, or as Lou Reed so beautifully puts it ’just a perfect day’. May there be many of those. Toasting for all of you, my dear friends. @staffanscheja @aniascheja @schejaskonst by @lizzie.scheja

Moments of endearments with Peter Nadas. Here at our studio in February 2022, release of ‘Illuminerade detaljer 1’. Indelible impressions of a grand author and man. Very saddened by his passing. @judiskkultur @magnus.sward.photo @konstakademien @albertbonniersforlag #judiskkultur #judiskkulturisvarige #jewishcultureinsweden by @lizzie.scheja

An ordinary image from a happy dinner-party at home in September 2022. What’s out of the ordinary is that two precious persons in the photo are no longer with us. Two phenomenal thinkers, humanists and friends who passed away untimely and left deep void and sadness. Per Svensson (1956-2025) and today, Martin Kragh (1980-2026). The world is not getting any better, alas. @judiskkultur @adam.gopnik @christer.sturmark @victoria_larm @staffanscheja #judiskkultur #judiskkulturisverige #jewishcultureinsweden by @lizzie.scheja

If I had a penny for every smile Tobias shared with us. Our ’baby’ survivor, almost the youngest, the child in hiding, our dedicated, articulate, vivacious, warm, generous, wise, funny Tobias Rawet has left us. I love them all, ’my’ Swedish survivors, but I had the privilege to be part of a life-changing experience with Tobias, when I conducted the week long studio interview with him (and two weeks later with Elisabeth Citrom תבלא, in the photos attached) when he gave his testimony to the interactive biographies project Dimensions Testimony for the USC Shoah Foundation. That was an intense, demanding, poignant, tearing work, that left me exhausted by the end of each day. But I was the only one exhausted. Tobias kept his strong, positive and optimistic spirit, saying that it was the best thing he had ever done. You can find his interactive testimony (and Elisabeth’s) at Sveriges museum om Förintelsen. If I had a penny for each time we asked him to speak, to appear, to present, to talk, to open exhibitions (Speaking Memories), to inaugurate (the Swedish Holocaust Museum), to participate (Malmö International Forum), to travel to different parts of Sweden. And at the end of the day he was always ready to have a glass of champagne and talk some more. Because life was to be celebrated, he kept saying. Our baby survivor with bright eyes and irresistible smile has left us. May your memory be a blessing beloved Tovia (1936 Lodz - 2026 Stockholm). @judiskkultur @museumforintelsen.se @historiska @karl_gabor_photography @uscshoahfoundation @ulrikafromnrkpng @ptenje @susannaziden @tringart #föreningenförintelsensöverlevande #speakingmemories #judiskkultur #judiskkulturisverige #jewishcultureinsweden by @lizzie.scheja

Arrived! We are filled with emotions and look so much forward to be hosting Eli Sharabi at our J! Talks series, in conversation with Madelaine Levy. Eli’s book ’Hostage’ (Gisslan) is the first authobiography published by an October 7 hostage survivor. It became an international bestseller, translated into 20 languages and was recently published in Swedish (translated by Ylva Mörk for Bokförlaget Max Ström). Eli Sharabi was held hostage by the terror organization Hamas in the tunnels of Gaza for 491 days until his release on February 8, 2025. Eli’s wife Lianne and daughters Noiya (16) and Yahel (13) were murdered in their home in kibbutz Be’eri during the October 7 massacre. His brother Yossi was kidnapped on the same day from Be’eri and was murdered in captivity in Gaza. Welcome to us to share your story dear Eli. @judiskkultur @eli_sharabi7 @sharon__sharabi @bokforlagetmaxstrom @albertbonniersforlag @karinannawahlen @madelainelevy #judiskkultur #judiskkulturisverige #jewishcultureinsweden by @lizzie.scheja
