“to live fully is to accept that every beginning has an end.”3 years ago today, my dad, daniel gregory, passed away on january 10th, 2022 at 9:10 pm due to stage 4 pancreatic cancer. i’ve always held back on sharing something like this, but as the years go on, i continue to realize how much he’s impacted my life and that i want to share it. he wasn’t just my dad - he was my role model, my best friend, and my biggest supporter. my dad was the most loving and caring person on this entire planet. if you ask any person that’s ever met him what he was like, they could tell you many stories. my dad enjoyed listening to music, watching the Steelers play football, and making people laugh. i always get asked, “how do you know so many songs?” and my answer is him. almost everyday, he would sit in our garage and listen to music on his record player. everyone in our neighborhood would hear the loud music and know that my dad was outside. they would always come to our garage and gather around my dads record player with him. my dad was so passionate about music that we had 3 record players and 2 pianos in our house, and he’s the one who taught me how to use both. my dad taught me many valuable things in my life that i am going to cherish and use for the rest of mine. another thing about my dad is that he was always smiling. in almost every photo of him ever taken, he was either smiling or making someone laugh. my dad is the reason why i love math, why i’m still playing volleyball, and why i am the way i am. watching someone i love go through so much pain hurts so bad, and i wouldn’t wish this type of pain on anyone. i was so mad and confused when he passed. how could God take someone like him? why would He do this to my family and i? as the years went on, i started to realize how everything happens for a reason, and that my dad is finally out of pain. my dad is in Heaven, looking down and protecting my family and i. i am so grateful for the 15 years i got to spend with my dad, and all of the memories that we made together. my dad always put everyone before himself, and i strive to live like him for the rest of my life. you’re gone but never forgotten, i love you forever. by @lizziegregoryyy
