Strolling through the charming streets of Geneva today, and I feel so lucky to have the sun break through the clouds! The High Commissioner delivered a speech focused on the critical challenges of forced displacement and global migration. 2023 wasn’t my best year in terms of my art. However, it was important to remember that every artist goes through creative slumps from time to time. Since I needed to find my out I thought I’d share a few strategies that helped me reignite my inspiration:➡️1. Seek Inspiration in Everyday Life: Look for inspiration in your surroundings. Observe nature, visit art galleries (like me above), attend exhibitions, explore new places, or even delve into other forms of creative expression like music, literature, or photography. ➡️2. Explore Different Styles and Techniques: Step out of your comfort zone and try experimenting with new art styles, techniques, or mediums. ➡️3. Establish a Routine: Set aside dedicated time for your art every day or week, even if you don’t feel particularly inspired. By creating a routine, you train your mind to be in a creative state, and inspiration may follow naturally.➡️4. Take Breaks: Sometimes, taking a break from painting can be beneficial. Engage in activities that rejuvenate your mind and body, such as spending time in nature, practicing mindfulness, or pursuing other hobbies. ➡️5. Document Thoughts and Ideas: Keep a sketchbook or a journal to jot down any fleeting thoughts, ideas, or visual inspirations that come to mind. ➡️6. Set Goals and Projects: Setting small, achievable goals or working on specific projects can help channel your energy and focus. It gives you a sense of purpose and direction, which, in turn, can inspire new artistic ideas.Remember, creativity and inspiration often ebb and flow, so we must be patient with ourselves. We need to keep exploring, experimenting, and nurturing journey wherever it takes us. We have been renovating our home @soundsgoodcottage which means designing, painting walls, wallpapering and landscaping which helped me reignite my creativity. 🩵🩵After this long rant… I am happy to share I do have a new collection coming soon! by @lizzymarksart

Caring about refugees and displaced persons doesn't preclude caring about the homeless, children, veterans, LGBTQIT, people with disabilities/ impairments, mental illness, drug addiction & more. There is room in the heart to help whomever we can! I had the chance to renew this spirit upon sitting with refugees in Ethiopia this week. Their voices were soft but their message was loud. A plea for help and grateful for an audience to hear their message.
