Part 2: The hardest part wasn’t becoming a receptionist. It was how my old colleagues treated me.

Some stopped replying. Some made jokes. Some acted like I had failed.

Here’s how I handled it and kept going:

I stopped explaining myself to people who already decided my story
I did the job in front of me with excellence anyway
I started building my social media skills on my lunch breaks
I muted what made me feel small and followed what made me feel capable
I reminded myself daily, this is a chapter not my whole career

From HR Consultant to Receptionist. My biggest career humbling.

My contract expired. It wasn’t renewed. No backup plan. I had to take what came next.

Here’s what that season taught me:

Your title does not define your value. Your skills do
A step sideways is still movement when you have bills to pay
I learned to sit with rejection and still show up everyday
Being at the front desk taught me people skills no HR book ever did
That “downgrade” is the reason I’m a better social media manager today
