I finished it! I give you my @rubystarsociety quilted jacket! Pattern: Wellspring Quilted Hoodie (pattern note- super glad I sized up!). Fabric- Mostly Ruby Star, maybe a few others thrown in there plus the black Kona. I have been trying to work on small projects that satisfy my need for whimsy and creativity. Making these appliqué jeans has been a fun process this week. I originally thought the inspo was all the tomato appliqué jeans I’ve been seeing in my feed, with a twist of the sardines trend that’s been popping up on bags and tees. Turns out I had been influenced by @the_badass_quilter and forgot! But excuse me I’m still recovering from my brain bonk! On that front things are much better and I got the all clear to go back to work in about a week and a half. #ljquilts #sardines #sewing by @ljquilter

I went to the coolest concert (Robert Plant with his band Saving Grace) at Abravanel Hall this week and was able to wear my new #juniperdress that I made in this cool gold Cheetah Walk Canvas. The venue is one of my favorite places in Salt Lake. I saw my very first concert ever there as well (A-ha!). This was one of my top three ever at this venue. I’ve even performed there a couple of times over the years! So glad it was saved from being demolished for a hockey stadium. PS GenX is getting OLD! taken in Abravanel Hall by @ljquilter

I’m setting up a sewing studio in my spare bedroom! I started with making these Pojagi-style curtains inspired by @kateatthelasthomelyhouse and her lovely sewing studio. They are super easy to make and they are so brilliant with these Indian Block printed fabrics because they are thin and the light shines through them. #ljquilts taken in Lavender Cottage by @ljquilter

This little Kawandi-style sampler piece was a fun way to use up some chunky scraps of my precious @heatherrossinsta prints. Her work is so colorful and inspiring and this little quilt makes me want to try a larger piece. The Kawandi style of quilting comes from India but from the African-heritage ethnic group called the Siddi. The little triangles in the corner are traditional as is one piece in the center (the final piece added) that doesn’t seem to fit the rest but represents something about the artist/creator. The Siddi quilters often put a few grains of rice in under that final swatch as a blessing to the home where the Kawandi will reside. taken in Lavender Cottage by @ljquilter

I made a cute little vest for Autumn. The pattern is Moss by @seamwork . Fabrics- various from @madewithharmony. I put a layer of flannel inside between the outer and lining fabrics to make it extra cozy! Latest make is quilt-adjacent! This is the same pattern I used to make the #technicolorcheesecoat! I had to make one for me too. I love how it came out. Pattern: Beachcomber Jacket by Friday Pattern Company (@fridaypatterncompany) Fabric: @agffashion Canvas Meadow from @artgalleryfabrics. The lining is a stash fabric from Joann. Me after doing PT for my concussion today. Haven’t done much quilting lately but I have been making more garments. Sadly my love of bright fabrics and patterns isn’t meshing with my brain very well at the moment! by @ljquilter

Enjoying a visit to Cedar City, Utah today wearing my #Lanepants that I made! I used the most gorgeous EU Linen from @saltlakesewciety. This was my third time making the pattern because I didn’t want to use the lovely linen until I had some practice. It’s a great pattern @hisydgraham ! Today is our 36th wedding anniversary! I took a really hard bonk on the head a few weeks ago and it’s resulted in some unwelcome post-concussion symptoms that have made sewing kind of hard (still have done a bit, but it’s not too easy). It’s really hard to stay away from screens and when I’m not doing something creative I feel super bored. I pulled out my watercolor practice book today (from @emilylexstudio)and that was a relatively easy distraction. Also did some organizing of my quilting threads and decorated a box with mod podge and fabric scraps. I am seeing a specialist on Monday and hope to be back in action soon. by @ljquilter
