Sometimes it is beautiful to simply gaze up and feel how the clouds in Montana are something otherworldly, perhaps even emissaries from a higher dimension, portals through which eagles and ravens journey between realms not contained in our limited philosophy, wherein truths unplumbed by mortals contain a depth simultaneously surreal and sacrilegious, and all forms above hang upon the tree of existence as both the fruit of that tree and the tree itself, all connected to the spring of time, out from hence the seeds of rain flow into the giant of our still and sleeping wilderness below. by @ljspink

The Awakening.
Low drops the fire mirror away over hills like milk in a sight unobserved through a bath of gold, in the weirdness of a January squeezing its sponge of saved-up Springtime into every crack and hollow. The old blind water tower crawling like an ant gathers trees for the darkness it doesn’t see approaching like a Viking barge falling over the mountains. Where have the chiming bronze gods gone that are now only abstract creatures of honor and truth making invisible nests in our ancient memories? I don’t care, she says, and blows out this dancing candle. Its flame falls into my frozen palm and we walk away together. by @ljspink

Dawn breaks over the mountains with the same beauty that glistens in a gentle brook. Only that she is seen in one place, while in this other, she is heard. I do not know whether it is fairer to see her face or to listen to her rippling laughter issuing from the giddy streams and rivers. They each, to my higher senses, are timeless and true things. by @ljspink

Jormungandr. The World Serpent. I imagined him with amphibious qualities. An ancient creature. One of the Old Ones, filled with memories of the Deep. The micron pens have been helping me chisel out more detail. ✍🏻🙂 by @ljspink

Aphrodite. Or possibly Idunn. I drew her as I imagine her statue may have looked before it was defaced by ignorant and lowly men in their service to flawed reasoning and unholy distain for the excellence of divine beauty. by @ljspink

Odin on his horse Sleipnir, gliding through the air, slipping from realm to realm, circling the world on frosty Winter nights, no particular goal in mind. I modeled Sleipnir’s head after oriental dragons. Flying through the air is an activity shared by both beings, so similar physiologies perhaps? We may never know. 🐎🐉 by @ljspink
