For the longest time I have been dabbling with this piece.I always knew so loved it,but at the same time I knew it was extremely popular and that it had been recorded and played SO MUCH by the great masters, that I never decided to make it part of my repertoire.

However, this January I choose to do it.Why not play something I love just because others have done it before?Music is such a su je tuve art, that there will always be space for new understandings, interpretations and performances of pieces/songs,so there will always be space for to find our pwn voice in them.I was limiting myself in order to fit in the high brown system.

I no longer care.I just enjoy playing what makes me happy, and challenges me.

Side note: This is work in progress!!I just started fully intentionally learning it about a week ago.

Hope this inspires you to go for what you love and want, and beyond your limiting beliefs.

🔴For Your #grammy consideration: ROJO 🔴
Laura Mazon Franqui
BEST CLASSICAL INSTRUMENTAL SOLO

As the 1st round of the Grammy voting season comes to a close, my heart is filled with gratitude.

One of the most beautiful parts of this journey has been connecting with so many extraordinary musicians, discovering inspiring new music, and sharing our stories through the universal language of art. ❤️

To everyone who has taken the time to listen to Rojo, shared a kind word, or connected with me along the way: THANK YOU! Your generosity, encouragement, and support mean more than you know.

Rojo is my most personal recording yet,a tribute to my grandparents and my aunt, deeply rooted in my Cuban heritage and shaped by memories of love, loss, resilience, and transformation, expressed through pieces of the Spanish and Latin American repertoire for classical guitar.

Through the guitar, I’ve tried to tell the stories that words alone cannot express.

Whatever happens, I’m incredibly grateful for the music, the friendships, and the beautiful connections this season has brought into my life.

With love and gratitude,
Laura ❤️🎸

#billboardlatinweek :“In the Lobby”,presented by Women In Music x @peermusicmia in collaboration with Grammys Florida Chapter.

What a great way to kickstart this Latín Music week in Miami!!!

Held at the one-of-a-kind Savage Labs Wynwood, the evening had such a special atmosphere. Between the venue’s eclectic character, the intimate live performances, and the opportunity to connect with fellow musicians and industry professionals, it was one of those nights to remember.

A definite highlight was the performance by Grammy-winning band Kerreke alongside @danielapadronviolin .Their fusion of Latin American musical traditions(especially Venezuelan music),infectious rhythms, and contemporary influences was so unique and also so powerful! The set the stage in fire.

I was especially captivated by @cynthiabague ‘s beautiful vocals and magnetic energy onstage, and of course, Daniela’s virtuoso and powerful violin playing🎻 As a classical guitarist en route to embracing more crossover projects , I have a special appreciation for artists who come from a classical tradition and are able to move so effortlessly between musical worlds. Watching Daniela bring that level of virtuosity, freedom, and personality to the performance was truly inspiring. It’s a reminder that our classical training can be a starting point for so many different forms of musical expression.

And as a Latina musician, evenings like this make me especially proud of my roots. 🇨🇺❤️ I love seeing how Latin music continues to evolve, bringing together different traditions, genres, and generations while staying connected to the cultures that shaped it. There is so much creativity coming out of our community, and it's exciting to witness how Latin artists continue to redefine what our music can sound like.

Thanks @womeninmusic ,Peer Music and The Recording Academy’s Florida Chapter, for creating a great evening surrounded by talent, creativity, and inspiring people. by @llillaura

✨The First Round of GRAMMY voting is officially open!

With profound gratitude and excitement, I am honored to present my album ROJO for consideration in the category of Best Classical Instrumental Solo.

ROJO began as a musical autobiography, bringing together masterpieces of the Spanish and Latin American classical guitar repertoire that had accompanied me throughout different times of my life, and performed through deeply personal lens.

Featuring works by Leo Brouwer, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Francisco Tárrega, Joaquín Turina, Jorge Morel, Carlos Rafael Rivera, and Claudia Montero, the album celebrates the richness and diversity of our musical heritage, exploring the extraordinary expressive possibilities of the classical guitar.

Born from memory, heritage, love, loss, and resilience, ROJO became something greater than I had originally imagined: a reflection of the vast spectrum of human emotion and the beautiful, sometimes fragile, privilege of being alive.

For me, ROJO is the color of that inner fire that carries us forward. It is passion, strength, remembrance, and the love that remains with us through every transformation.

What began as a deeply personal story ultimately revealed something universal: we all carry within us people, places, memories, and dreams that shape who we are. And music has the extraordinary power to give those memories a voice.

My greatest hope is that somewhere between a note and a silence, my story may become part of yours.

As this first round of voting begins, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of this journey.

Jupiter Festival Miami 2026: What was a classical guitarist doing at a conference about media, branding, technology, sports, and entertainment? A Lot✨

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Jupiter Festival Miami, where creative minds and industry leaders came together to explore the future of entertainment and culture.

I especially loved the conversations around live experiences, the journey from digital feeds to real-life connections (and back!), and music’s role in the evolving creative landscape.

All of it resonated deeply with my artistic mission: bringing the classical guitar into the 21st century.

Because preserving tradition and embracing innovation aren’t opposites. The future of classical music is also about reimagining where it belongs, how it’s experienced, and who it reaches.

Do you agree?Let me know in the comments!
Thanks #jupiterfestival for an amazing and deeply informative experience!!!Loved it

✨My album ROJO has officially been confirmed on the GRAMMY ballot in the category of Best Classical Instrumental Solo.✨

ROJO is profoundly personal to me. It represents years of music, dedication, searching, and a belief in the power of art to say what words cannot. To see this work recognized at this stage by the Recording Academy is a moment I will hold very close to my heart. For that little Cuba girl this itself feels like the realization of her wildest dreams!

My deepest gratitude goes to every person who believes in this project! This moment belongs, in so many ways, to all of you as well.

To the Recording Academy voting members, thank you for your time, your listening, and your consideration.

With immense gratitude and pride,
Laura
