Feeling so grateful and honestly a little emotional 🥹 Last night at the beautiful Sweetwater Branch Inn @sweetwater.branch.inn here in Florida, I received my very first Yelp “Rookie of the Year” Award @yelpgainesville ! What an incredible welcome to the Yelp community in my new home state ❤️ @yelp

Huge thank you to Yelp for the honor and for hosting such a lovely evening. The small bites and snacks were absolutely delicious, and the garden setting was pure magic 🌿🌸 (not saying I took mental notes for my own garden… but I definitely did 👀)

If you’re looking for a dreamy Florida venue for weddings, family gatherings, or special events, I can’t recommend Sweetwater Branch Inn enough. The charm, the atmosphere, the gardens — all 10/10 ✨

I’m so proud of myself for putting myself out there this year and trying something new. And of course, thank you to Colby, @therealcpa247 my forever partner-in-crime, for always being by my side ❤️

🥯☕ A little taste of New York in Gainesville! ❤️

Thank you to Luke’s New York Bagels ( @lukesnewyorkbagels ) and Yelp Gainesville ( @yelpgainesville ) for inviting us out to try this cute breakfast spot! We love discovering new places for Doody Destination, and we probably wouldn’t have found this one without Yelp!

As someone who grew up visiting New York, Kissa absolutely loved the decor! The colorful wallpaper and subway-inspired details were so fun and brought back NYC vibes. There’s plenty of space inside, outdoor seating, and a decent amount of parking nearby.

Kissa tried the blueberry bagel with regular cream cheese, and it was delicious! It was generously sized, and the fact that it was actually BLUE made it even more fun. But the real star was the Cannoli Latte. Kissa thinks it might be the best latte she’s ever had! It was perfectly made, and we’d definitely come back for the coffee alone.

The staff was very friendly, but unfortunately, after our drinks arrived quickly, we waited about 20 minutes for our food because our order was forgotten. They were busy, and we understand things happen, but it did affect our experience.

We’re giving Luke’s 4 out of 5 stars. We loved the atmosphere, enjoyed the food, and would happily return for another latte!

Our cat has officially reviewed 16th Ave Diner ( @16thavenuediner ) in Gainesville, Florida… well, sort of. 😂🐱🥩

I brought home a little steak fat from our meal and apparently he heard “STEAK” and immediately said YES PLEASE. 😂 His meows were basically a five-star review before he even took a bite!

The best part? We found this little guy when he was just a baby, and now he knows exactly who to ask when he wants a snack. 🥹❤️ He was SO happy chowing down!

Honestly, I think the cat has decided we’re his personal room service. 😂🐾

We”ll be honest: sometimes I assume hotel restaurants and bars are going to be more like dives and not necessarily that good. So when my husband wanted to go to The Comeback, ( @thecomeback_gainesville ) I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I am SO happy we went!

You literally walk right through the beautiful hotel lobby, and then you find this really nice restaurant and bar. There’s seating throughout, and there was even more seating on the other side where a bunch of gentlemen were watching the game, so I didn’t want to interrupt their game-day time.

Our waitress was absolutely fantastic, too!

We started with the $6 cheesy tots, and they were really good! They were nice and crispy, cooked perfectly, with plenty of melty cheese. Whatever that sauce was on top was REALLY good, too!

For my meal, I got the turkey club with fries, and WOW! This sandwich was massive! I could only eat half, so I actually brought the other half home for my teenager. The portions here are definitely generous. Plenty of meat too! Sometimes inflation hits meals, but not here!

We also tried the onion rings, and I really, really liked them. They were crispy and crunchy on the outside without that gross, soggy texture you sometimes get with onion rings. They were cooked really well and had a great crunch.

They also had beer specials, which I thought was awesome. And considering it’s free to watch the game here, there weren’t a ton of people there, so there was no waiting around or fighting for a seat. There are literally what feels like a million TVs, so you can easily find a spot to watch the game.

The inside is beautiful and has a really sophisticated feel. I also loved the little UF Gator touches and all the fun decorations throughout the restaurant.

So if you’re questioning whether you should go in here, especially on game day, JUST GO! We had a really, really good time, the food was great, the portions were generous, and the service was fantastic.

We’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I stopped at Asado Life ( @asadolife ) for lunch after a specialist appointment in the city. When you arrive, you immediately see the beautiful water, and I loved the concept of being able to park your boat right there!

We were quickly seated and helped by our waitress. I ordered the Old Town Swizzle, which was really good, but unfortunately, I’m highly allergic to mint. It’s frustrating when restaurants don’t clearly list ingredients like mint on the menu, because I feel terrible having to send something back. I ended up simply removing the mint plant and taking a Benadryl in the car afterward. Just something I think the restaurant should consider noting on the menu for guests with allergies.

For our appetizer, we ordered the Sesame Ginger Beef Tips. They were good, but unfortunately, this was one of the smallest portions we’ve encountered in all of our travels. At $21 for three tiny pieces, we felt the portion was quite small, so we would probably skip this one next time.

For my meal, I ordered the Grilled Chicken Club, and it was delicious! The portion was very generous, fresh baked bread, and I actually had enough left over for lunch the next day. The sandwich was definitely on the greasier side, so just something to be aware of.

Our waitress was attentive and friendly, but I did feel like we waited a little longer than we would have liked for a second drink. By the time someone came back around, we had already finished our food, so we ended up only having one drink. I couldn’t help but think they may have missed out on a second drink sale there!

We just got back from Key West a few weeks ago, so we had to try the pie. It was really good overall, although the bottom crust was extremely hard and almost seemed like it may have still been partially frozen.

Overall, we enjoyed our visit and really liked the location and concept. Since they’re newer, I think there are just a few little things that could be fine-tuned. We’d definitely be interested in coming back and seeing how things continue to improve! taken in Jacksonville, Florida by @llkissa

Thank you so much to Dick Mondell’s ( @dickmondells ) and Yelp ( @yelpgainesville ) for inviting us out us try this cute retro burger spot!

Parking can be a little crazy, but you can also walk here pretty easily. I ordered the Original Big Dick, which I never knew I needed in my married life! LOL

I got the seasoned fries and a root beer to go with it. The burger was really good, although it was a little too well-done around the edges. They were absolutely slammed when we visited, though, so I totally understand!

The fries were perfectly seasoned with what tasted like vinegar, salt, pepper, and maybe paprika? Whatever the seasoning was, I loved it! The fries had so much more flavor than your typical fries, which I really enjoyed.

Overall, this place is super cute, has a fun retro vibe, and I really enjoyed our visit. Definitely a fun spot to check out if you’re looking for a good burger with a little personality! taken in Dick Mondell's by @llkissa
