Just a Florida girl who had Cali dreams

First and foremost, thank you to my Lord and Savior for covering me through this undergrad experience. Thank you to my parents for being my support and always having my back, no matter what. Thank you to my family, my chosen family, my friends, mentors, and the Black faculty and staff at the University of San Francisco. I couldn’t have done this without each and every one of you.🥹

4 years ago, I landed in San Francisco not knowing what the next few years would hold. Times of uncertainty and wonder if I was in the right spot, to finally have the AHA moment of, this is exactly where I was meant to be. I’ve faced countless trials and tests, but I made it. God knows I could write a book about my testimony, but for now, I’ll just say this...To San Francisco, to love you is to battle with the idea of hating you, and so l’ve settled on this: I hate that you made me love you, even when I wanted to run away and forget you ever existed. You wrapped me up in your beauty, forced me to sit still, and experience you and all your glory.You gave me some of my best friends, lessons I never knew I needed, love I thought I never could experience, and not the romantic kind btw. So I thank you. Thank you for being home for 4 years. Thank you for letting me be free. And yeah, this caption, this experience, was supposed to be about a degree, but it never really was about the degree, was it? But the lessons and the journey along the way. And for that I am forever grateful.
