Benvenuti a Firenze 🇮🇹

This beautiful Duomo (church) can be viewed from many places in the city.

1. The icon from afar 🏛️
A picture of Brunelleschi’s Dome in the Florence skyline. I took this picture from the top of Piazzale Michelangelo.

2. The details up close 🎨
At 7.30am before the crowds...I was able to soak in the beauty of this church 😍

3. The doorway to nearly 600 years of Florentine history ⛪️
The entrance is so beautiful! But unfortunately I didn't have time to go inside...this time.

Ever seen shoes made of wood? 🇳🇱

These are traditional Dutch clogs, known as “klompen.” They’ve been worn in the Netherlands for centuries, especially by farmers and fishermen.

There are different types:

🌾 Everyday work clogs
The most common type
Plain, sturdy, and usually unpainted. Worn by farmers, fishermen, and laborers

🎨 Decorative & Sunday clogs
Usually painted or carved. Worn to church, markets, or social gatherings

💍 Wedding clogs
Specially made for brides (and sometimes grooms). Often carved with symbols like hearts or tulips.

❄️ Winter/ice clogs
Some clogs were adapted with metal blades attached underneath. Used as a simple form of ice skates on frozen canals

I love flowers so I've always wanted to visit the Netherlands during spring, and finally did this last week. Most tourists go to Keukenhof Gardens, but it's not the only place to see tulips. I went to the nearby "tulip experience Amsterdam" fields instead.

📍Tulip Experience Amsterdam

🚉 Location: Lisse (no direct train station)
🚍 From Amsterdam: 45 mins drive
🎟️ Entry: €12–€15 (includes picking 5 tulips)
🌸 Opening season: Mid March until Mid May
🕘 Hours: 9AM–6PM
🌷 Best time to visit: Late April for full bloom

My highlight of visiting Uganda last summer was seeing the tourist location of Jinja 🇺🇬 Its a beautiful location, and popular for river rafting, ziplining, bungee jumping and quad biking. But it's most famous for the River Nile, which starts in Uganda and then flows up through Egypt. So last year I got to see the River Nile twice as I visited both countries 🫢

Luxembourg was my destination for this year's Christmas market visit. I had an amazing day trip, and it was definitely worth the 24 hours without sleep 😅 this tree is 13 metres tall! (According to google) 🇱🇺

🎄 Christmas Markets in Luxembourg 🎄

1. Lëtzebuerger Chrëschtmaart (Place d'Armes)
I liked the layout of this one but it was ridiculously crowded, and no seating areas. It's a few minutes away from the bus/tram stop, so easily accessible. There is a walk in style stall selling many different cute tree decorations (6/10 👌🏾)

2. Wantermaart (Place de Paris)
This is where My photo was taken. It's popular for its pretty Ferris wheel, and great options for food. The lines at most stalls were very long, and with good reason. There was a combination or French, German, and Luxembourgish festive food and drinks. Family friendly as there is a trampoline and a small ride for kids. There are toilets and a few indoor seating areas (10/10 👌🏾)

3. Place Guillaume II
This is a very tiny market/festive location. They have a big ice slide which looks like fun! There is a large light up advent calendar house. A new window is opened every day up until Christmas. The only market style stall, is one massive square shaped stand under the advent calendar with food & drinks. (4/10 👌🏾)

Well it's safe to say that I really enjoyed Serbia 🇷🇸 and would happily go back to explore more of the country in future. The countryside is beautiful!

This is Tufahije, which is originally a Bosnian dessert, but also eaten in Serbia. It's made from cooked apples and walnuts, then topped with some whipped cream. Very tasty!!!!
