September 21st | 1-5pm | Sgraffito, Underglaze & Carving

Unleash your inner artist to create depth and patterns on a leather-hard porcelain clay tile utilizing the ancient carving technique known as “sgraffito". You will be applying black underglaze to porcelain clay and carving into leather-hard clay tiles with different tools to expose the contrasting clay surface. This class is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike.

Ceramics with Lisa Dickson (Artists 18+ years welcome) | Supplies included | Students will leave their work to be fired and will be notified when pick up is available at the GAC.

Took a cool beginners workshop yesterday. Never done this before but I really liked it! Now I know what to do with all my broken pottery!! Highly recommend for an afternoon of fun with a friend or deep dive into the zone….😑

Here’s another multiple fired piece. I like it much more with the purples and blues visible in the tail. I have a hard time photographing as I don’t have a light box yet so the purple/blue aura on the very edge is really an artifact and is not actually there. #ceramics #handmadepottery #handmadeceramics #localartingeorgetown

These days I’m working in more color. I can’t say that I’ve totally got it and feel like I’ve nailed it but it has presented challenges that make me learn something new. When I get something out of the kiln these days I am always surprised because nothing turns out like I see it in my mind. #ceramics #handmadepottery #handmadeceramics #localartingeorgetown
