18 June 2025 Bari
We were delighted to have Vito drive us 2 hours north from Lecce to Bari yesterday for our final day visiting Puglia. Bari is the capital of Bari. It’s a big bustling seaside city! Several architectural styles are reflected throughout the city…Roman, Baroque, Facist, Romantic Puglianese, and French and they all fit together with charm. Our lovely suite gave us a beautiful panoramic view from our balcony. We sampled cockles for lunch…sweet and delicious! Later in the afternoon I enjoyed a wonderful walking tour through the Old town with it’s beautiful open squares, ladies making and selling orrichetta along the narrow streets , stunning Churches and sweet cafes, shops and restaurants . We then strolled through the new town along stunning wide streets lined with theatres, comfortable parks, French style street lamps along the seaside promenade, pedestrian shopping streets, and all aspects of city life. We returned to Market Square for our last delicious traditional meal of Puglia. However, one has to leave in order to return…Today we fly home with cherished memories in our hearts from an incredibly beautiful and very special time in charming Italy 🇮🇹 Ciao by @lmw25

Today we enjoyed a delightful private Olive Oil experience and Wine tasting at Masseria Monsignor before exploring Ostuni - the white city on the hill. As I strolled to the narrow streets, through the arches, and up the stairs that join the tiny dwellings to the highest point of the town’s Medieval settlement, I admired the flowered balconies, the small shops and restaurants along the way. We arrived in Lecce late this afternoon and checked into La Fiermontina - an urban boutique resort set on a cobblestone street set in a garden setting in the heart of Old Lecce! by @lmw25

Friday 6 June 2025 Malta
Thanks to Pam and Abby, we arranged for a Driver to show us the sights of Malta! The splendor of Co-Cathedral St. John was impressive and ornate. It’s collection of priceless art works and treasures is amazing! Valletta is a vibrant city dotted with 16th century houses, shops and restaurants along it’s narrow limestone alleys. Mdina is a fortified charming city dating back to 700 BC. Riding high above the Mediterranean, the Dingli Cliffs are the highest point on the Island. Hagar Qim Temple is one of the most ancient religious sites on earth…over 5000 years old! by @lmw25

First four days of enjoyment in beautiful Italy with my best travel buddy and already making beautiful memories 💞 Venice touristy adventures … there’s only one Venice! Trieste, stunning & clean. Glamorous Cunard, “Queen Victoria “, beautiful Princess Suite-our home for the next week with visits to Zadar, Split, Malta, Capri, Rome before flying to Puglia for 10 more days of making memories. Fifty years ago today I graduated from Russell Sage and I am grateful for the knowledge, the friendships, and the memories of wonderful times with wonderful friends Anne Pomeroy, Kim Findeisen, Marie Bellizi, Renee Desormeau West, Deborah Gale Williams, Mary Vece-Wright, Robyn Pitchford, and so many more extraordinary women who shared these incredible years. Time and good friends are two things that get more valuable the older you get! Friends forever to all in the RSC Red Devil Class of ‘75, no matter the distance, you’ll always be close in my heart .
