We’re proud to support one of our own!

Lincoln BJJ member and recently promoted blue belt, Dr. Mike Kutayli, has been selected as a 2026 American Heart Association Leaders of Impact nominee.

Mike is not only a dedicated member of our Jiu-Jitsu family but also a cardiologist who has spent his career caring for others. On a personal note, Mike is also my cardiologist, and I can tell you firsthand how much he genuinely cares about the people he treats.

As part of the Leaders of Impact campaign, Mike is raising funds and awareness to support the American Heart Association and its fight against heart disease and stroke.

We’re proud to support Mike and encourage our Lincoln BJJ community to join us in supporting his efforts.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting 5-time BJJ World Champion Bernardo Faria for a seminar at Lincoln Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Center.

Afterward, Bernardo sat down with Conan Schafer for an episode of The Bernardo Faria Podcast.

They talked about Conan’s 23-year career in law enforcement, his transition to running two BJJ academies, organizing tournaments, and continuing to teach and train at 63.

You don’t train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu just to get better at Jiu-Jitsu.

You train to become stronger.
To move better.
To handle pressure.
To stay calm when things get uncomfortable.
To challenge yourself physically and mentally.
To build confidence in what your body can do.
To keep doing the things you love as you get older.

And somewhere along the way, you make friends, find a community, and discover you’re capable of more than you thought.

Schedule Changes Start TODAY!

Just a reminder that our updated class schedule takes effect this week, at both College View and Havelock.

We’ve made some changes to class times, locations, and instructors, and added a new Striking & Pad Work class at Havelock!

Please take a minute to review the updated schedule before heading to class.

Beginning the week of October 12, we will be making several changes to the Lincoln Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Center schedule at both our College View and Havelock locations.

Please take a moment to review the changes below.

COLLEGE VIEW

Monday – Adult Advanced Gi
Beginning Monday, October 12
6:30–8:00 PM
Instructor: Conan Schafer

Conan will be taking over the Monday evening Adult Advanced Gi class.

Thursday - Adult Judo
Beginning Thursday, October 15
5:30-6:45 PM
Instructor: Josh Cather

Josh will be extending the Judo class 15 minutes.

Thursday – Adult Fundamentals Gi
Beginning Thursday, October 15
7:00-8:00 PM
Instructor: John Uland

John will be taking over the Thursday evening Adult Fundamentals Gi class.

Thursday – Adult All-Levels No Gi & Adult MMA

Beginning Thursday, October 15, both of these classes will move from College View to our Havelock location and will have new class times.

These classes will no longer be held at College View on Thursday evenings.

HAVELOCK

Tuesday – NEW Adult Striking & Pad Work
Beginning Tuesday, October 13
7:30–8:30 PM
Instructor: Mike Aquila

We are adding a new Adult Striking & Pad Work class to the Havelock schedule on Tuesday evenings.

Wednesday – Adult Advanced MMA
Beginning Wednesday, October 14
New time: 8:00–9:00 PM

Please note the new time for Wednesday evening Adult Advanced MMA.

Thursday – Adult All-Levels No Gi
Beginning Thursday, October 15
New time: 6:30–7:30 PM
Instructor: Mike Aquila

This class is moving from College View, where it was previously held from 7:30–8:30 PM.
