Introducing my new website portfolio biodegradablesoundsystem.xyz 🪐

Drawing design inspiration from early internet blogging and 90s label Rising High Records, the site exists in an interplanetary autonomous zone, where connective molecules emerge from its murky and gaseous landscape. Built for nostalgic immersion, a custom media player accompanies reading and exploration.

Bridging deep archival research with the raw energy of the dance floor, my portfolio is a collection of work spanning independent publications, physical format, online cultural editorial, reviews, biographies, press releases, grant writing, and more. The blog page is dedicated to excavated interview transcripts and other work related to my extended research in dance music and counter-cultural heritage. Some of these include talks with members of Spiral Tribe and Psychick Warriors ov Gaia. The blog is a means of archiving history while also preserving long-form music journalism.

Alongside my independent practice as an author and music journalist, my freelance services extend to further writing and research within the music industry such as: copywriting, marketing & communications, panel moderation, and grant writing.

Want to work together? Reach out via the contact form on my website, or reach out to me directly here.

So happy to have Hybrid Forms published in @crackmagazine Between The Tracks ADE guide. My first print article for a major music mag, about a topic I care deeply about.

Hybrid Forms dives into the evolution of sound systems in Amsterdam, tracing its roots to the Surinamese crew Shashamane Hi-Fi, the influence of the Jah Tubbys and Bedlam free party crew on King Shiloh’s system in the height of the 90s squat scene, and the future of 3D printing, open source learning, and queer resistance.

Thank you to Levi from Shashamane Hi-Fi for helping me get to the source, and to Neliz from Covenant for connecting us. This is a vital story that is missing from Dutch reggae sound system history.

Love to everyone involved @covenantsoundsystem @krackfree.soundsystem @soworldwide___ pos, FRXCTOSE, @kantarion.sound @additaudio

And big thanks to @oliwarwick for being the best editor and constant inspiration in the world of music journalism.

The mag is all over the city in ur favourite clubs, record stores, cafes, venues. Go find it! by @lnr_dj

Just got my hands on the second volume of The Juice Kru curated by @dj_easy_b_

At the beginning of this year I interviewed @kn1ps_ and @csd_28 about @v23be - an underground DIY party from Belgium I have deep respect for, keeping the darker and stranger sonics of the tekno, hardcore and experimental scenes alive. Combining magic with the mundane, life inside V23 is an ecstatic hardship with a relenting response to hosting events across Europe. The interview touches upon alienation, old school futurism, sustaining life within and around the system, and more.

You can pick up your free copy of The Juice Kru around the usual cultural centers, record shops across the Netherlands. For Amsterdam, you can find a copy at OT301.

Big ups everyone involved in this edition.

Photo contributions from @clinttantedja and @charlottehingley

The final slide is a video from October 2023, the first night me and Koby met in person after having nerded out online about free party history. It was the 25 year memorial free party for Curley, organized by Spiral Tribe and Mononom. For personal reasons, I hold this night close to my soul, always.

LNR ╚═ Future Intel ═╗ 13 08 2026

Last week I was invited to play on @future.intel where I decided to dig back through my techno collection of wonky, acidic and tripped-out sonics. It’s been a long time since I’ve dedicated a mix to this side of my sound, but ultimately some of these records massively shaped how I dig. It’s also been strangely nice to take a step back from consistently buying records this year (2026 the year nobody has any money lol) and get creative with what I already have. Underground gems from some of my favourite 90s producers Steve Bicknell, Cari Lekebusch, Cristian Vogel & Si Begg, Psychick Warriors ov Gaia, and favourite labels Planet Rhythm, Missile, Kx Noizsystem, Acid Fever, Telepathic. All vinyl 90s session. Link in the usual place.

Fragments of the panel talk ‘Below the Surface’ at this year’s edition of @fiberfestival . I spoke alongside @woodyninetytwo @trois_quarts_taxi_system , moderated by @chloe.lula . During this discussion I touched upon topics around the history of free party symbol ‘23’, Discordianism, chaos movements, and the militarization of psychedelic drug reform. Thank you Fiber for giving this awkward alien the chance to yap about their ongoing research into hardcore and psychedelic music subcultures. 👽 by @lnr_dj

JUNE 13 2026

@ot301studio_amsterdam presents MASSIEF

Featuring: LNR B2B Gemma Maree @lnr_dj & @gemma.maree

LNR (them/they) is a UK-born, Amsterdam-based DJ and writer. Inspired by a collective dialogue between their journalistic research surrounding dance music history and obsession with collecting old school
vinyl, LNR translates pen to wax by creating journeys centred around fluid iterations of sound system culture. Their sound channels refractions of music along the hardcore and psychedelic spectrums, integrating technological rawness with dissociative coils. LNR sculpts journeys of twisted and unsettling energy, excavating obscure records across tekno, jungle, drum n bass, trance, acid, dub and beyond.

Their expansive knowledge of this musical lineage connects the dots between past and present - maintaining subcultural integrity whilst injecting a contemporary rhythmic form. They are the author of Biodegradable Soundsystem, a series of essays, features, and interviews navigating microclimates of old school dance music culture within the sphere of free parties, raves, club culture, and experimental sonics.

For this MASSIEF concept, LNR will join co-curator Gemma Maree, for an exploratory opening set, Gemma links underground production to underground dancefloors, elaborating on the tight-nit construct of dub-step and its foundational presence in nowadays more modern post-dubstep genres. The two will guide the dance floor through a series of sounds that have both strongly influenced their artistry, bringing a substantial amount of UK heavy weight, deep and thoughtful low end frequencies into the mix. Not one to be missed!

Tickets are available via the @ot301studio_amsterdam website.

Big weekend incoming! I have the great pleasure to play twice in @garagenoord this Friday as part of @fiberfestival (23:30 - 00:45 & 02:30 - 04:00). It feels amazing to return to my second home on a lineup I really admire.

Before the chaos of the weekend commences, I will be speaking as part of a panel called Below the Surface with @woodyninetytwo @trois_quarts_taxi_system moderated by @chloe.lula // my first time speaking in public about my research and my book Biodegradable Soundsystem. Join us down the wormhole this Friday 11:30am at Brakke Grond.

Big love to the whole team at FIBER who have put so much love and dedication into bringing this programme to life. 👽 by @lnr_dj
