Still in shock but another early morning paid off. This fish was just an absolute monster weighting in at 14.5lbs. It’s going to be hard to beat this fish but couldn’t be more thankful she let me see what a true giant looks like. Christmas came early this year. Can’t believe it but the big swim bait grind paid off again, making this my third double digit of the year. This fish came out of nowhere while mid conversation with @scrapfishes. After figuring out how to land this beast, the scale read 10.16 lbs.

I’ll take leadering over fighting the fish all day long! With this fish, and quite a few others this season, we were able to get a small fin clip that will help researchers better understand the genetics of these incredible fish. Pretty cool to play a small part in learning more about them.

18 SoCal marlin in one day is truly something special. We capped off the trip with another 3, bringing our 1.5-day total to an incredible 21 marlin. Grateful to be on such a beautiful fishing platform and even more grateful to fish with the best crew around. Truly an unforgettable trip!

Still trying to wrap my head around how lucky I am to add another absolute trophy fish to the list. Lake Tahoe is a truly special place to me. I’ve been coming up here since I was a kid, and getting the opportunity to chase these fish is something I never take for granted. To put a fish of this caliber on my own bass boat is a moment I’ll never forget.
We started the trip by spending a day with Nijal @doubledowntahoe, and it was one of the best decisions we could’ve made. He was incredibly generous with his knowledge of the lake and gave us a whole new understanding of how to approach these fish. We took everything we learned and spent the rest of the week putting it to work from our own bass boat.
One day with Double Down, six more days chasing them ourselves, and somehow we managed to put this fish in the boat. Couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to chase fish like this in one of the most incredible places on earth.

So stoked to be part of @theigfa SoCal International Great Marlin Race (IGMR). This is the second satellite tag we’ve deployed this year, with at least one more on the way. These tags provide valuable data on marlin movements, water temperature, and post-release survival. What we know about these fish is still incredibly limited. These new 240-day satellite tags should give researchers more data than ever before. Every tag brings us one step closer to better understanding, advancing research, and supporting the conservation of these incredible fish.
