✨Moments from LIMINAL 2026✨

🌌Friday Night Spotlight Moment with the entrancing LOCATOR with visuals by Orange Grove Dance and Peter Leibold VI. We brought audiences out of the theater and into the Dance Place Arts Park to enjoy a Projection Mapping + Music Experience under the night sky.🌌

Beyond the 70 stellar films that will be screened over the three days, this weekend also features TWO dynamic LIVE mixed media performances.

✨FRIDAY AT 8:45PM - FREE TO THE PUBLIC
Projection Mapping Installation with live responsive music.
A large-scale projection mapping experience on the exterior of Dance Place, created by Orange Grove Dance in collaboration with @locatormusic , the electronic music project of composer Daniel Frankhuizen. Blending classical and electronic minimalism, Locator creates meditative sonic environments paired with immersive visual design. (The magic featured in this video.)

✨SATURDAY AT 8PM - BREAKING COUNTERPOINT
Reimagining Steve Reich’s Electric Counterpoint for the twenty-first century, this immersive performance integrates live guitar, choreography, and realtime computational media to generate a constantly evolving, participatory score. The evening culminates in a digital dance party, dissolving the boundary between performer and audience.

BREAKING COUNTERPOINT is created by Zane Forshee with Wendel Patrick, Orange Grove Dance, director Katherine Helen Fisher and Hyperreal Labs.

I recently got turned down for an audition, and part of the feedback was that they wanted to hear my cello with less backing track.

So here’s a piece built entirely from live instruments.

I usually don’t like auditions. I have so much PTSD from music conservatory training. This one’s gonna be fun though, @peacelovetal reminded me it’s the first time I’m auditioning with my own original music and that already changes the game. Super grateful to have creative brain trust fellow @lucas_ashby_music to refer to on the cart boat logistics. And to share the stage with tonight, wish us luck. Just passing through…thinking of photography not as a hobby but a way to capture this feeling. Put a $30 recycled disposable lens on a full frame @lumix and this is what you get. Can beauty exist without chaos?

Lately it’s felt like screaming into the void😱. All we want to do is create something from a place of beauty. How can we do that when the outside world is looking so ugly?

The intention of this concert + Salonhouse is to be both a refuge and a space of resistance. A place where beauty can exist in spite of the chaos in the world. Where people can share, commune, and listen with each other in a meaningful way.

What do you think? Can art truly be separate from the world it’s born into? by @locatormusic

Places and Spaces
The show was about collaboration 🤝 and trying new things. 🌸 Spring energy is always extremely potent for creative process.

This song ‘you are here’ was originally imagined with audience participation. the idea is to capture movement from the audience and incorporate that via live capture into the visuals in a way that brings the audience into the piece. Fully #immersiveart Working with @jraimondodance and @sophie.witmer.dance brought a new dimension to the piece. The camera movement became part of the #choreography.
