At LOCF, we use the sport of Boxing as a placeholder to teach young people about the importance of discipline, hard work and dedication to help them succeed in any walk of life.

We specialize in teaching the youth that effective critical thinking and problem solving skills are the best way to solve issues as opposed to fighting.

Thieves took the electricity, but they did not stop our programme, not even for one day! 🥊

The lights are out, but the children are still here.

They are doing their homework, training, playing, laughing and learning. Some activities are happening inside, while others have moved outside.

We are making it work and our participants are learning how to be resilient when faced with adversity🥊

The most important thing is that our young people still have a place to come, a place to learn, a place to be themselves and people who continue to show up for them.

Our after school programme remains open Monday through Friday from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Thanks to Big Yard Restaurant, our children are also continuing to receive meals while they are with us.

There is still work to be done and we are asking our community, businesses and friends of Hopewell to stand with us as we continue providing a safe and supportive place for our young people.

She unpacks the bag. Opens the workbook to the right page. Makes sure her grandbabies are settled before she lets go.

Then she trusts us with the rest. 📚

We don’t take that trust lightly.

From 12pm to 6pm every day, our young people have a safe, structured place to learn, finish their homework, build confidence and connect with each other, with someone beside them who can help with the hard questions, notice when they’re tired or having a rough day, and simply be glad to see them walk through the door.

Today it was “th” words. Thunder. Think. Thank. Thumb.

Tomorrow it’ll be something new, and we’ll be right there for that too.

We’re not just a place to wait until pickup. This is an ongoing daily program where young people can learn, feel supported, build confidence and grow.

There’s an important difference between a program and an outreach, and it’s worth understanding. What we do every day is programming.

Our young people come through our doors for structured, ongoing activities like boxing, football, after school support, homework assistance, meals, mentorship and leadership development.

A program is about consistency, structure and ongoing engagement. It’s something young people can return to week after week and grow through over time. #KnightsInTheRing

Outreach is different. Outreach responds to a specific need or opportunity, such as a medical outreach, scholarship initiative or community relief effort.

At LOCF, we do both. Champions Rise, our medical outreach and Operation Shelter Jamaica are examples of how we respond to specific needs in our communities.

But what you’re seeing here?

This is our program. This is ongoing. This is what we do every day. This is the Lennox Lewis League of Champions Foundation. 🥊
