Bones with the fish of the day!

And a mouthful of that @schultzoutfitters magic. Fun day with @alvin_dedeaux_fly_fishing and @bonesflyfishing. Been too long since we all had a day to fish together. When that aligned with some favorable conditions, it made for a special time on the water with good friends. Alvin worked a rod and a camera throughout the day so I’m sure we’ll see a recap of the action soon!

🤑WORST IDEA EVER. This East Austin development proposal along the Colorado River is being fast-tracked, blindsiding the local community and bypassing normal City standards of accountability😡

What’s in the Dog’s Head proposal?

👎2,614 acres along the Colorado River
👎No height limits
👎No impervious cover cap
👎Major floodplain and Critical Water Quality Zone modifications that risk erosion and flooding
👎45 YEARS of limited public oversight
👎👎👎Up to $2.2 BILLION in public tax subsidies from both the City and County
👎👎👎👎Vague and broad zoning permissions, including industrial uses like data centers

Yes… this could include data centers, industrial facilities, car dealerships, research/testing facilities in a sensitive river corridor.

🗣️SHOW UP for the Colorado River and our public process. key meeting dates determining billions in tax subsidies are July 14 (Travis County Commissioners Court), July 23 (City Council meeting)
💥 DEMAND real public review before any vote. This double standard will not stand.

🌱This is one of the most ecologically important stretches of the Colorado River, not to mention people live here. The developer consistently refers to it as a “wasteland” and it’s being treated like a blank slate for intensive development.

🙌The Colorado River and our east side communities deserve the same level of protection, scrutiny, and public input as the rest of Austin. This deal prioritizes long-term developer control and subsidies over environmental protection and community wellbeing. If we’re going to build, we need to do it RIGHT, with equity and sustainability at the forefront.

📢 Please share widely. This proposal is moving quickly, and people deserve to know what’s being decided with our tax dollars.
