Who I Am & Why I Do This 🤍✨
I truly believe this was God-ordained. Glory to God, always. 🙏🏽✨ I didn’t even know how to do locs. I’m talking about—I SWEAR I had no clue. 😂 One day, my grandfather, God rest his beautiful and amazing soul, looked at me and said, “Taya, come do my locs.” I told him, “I don’t know how to do locs!” And he said, “Yes you do, you just twist them.” 😂 So I grabbed a comb, some gel, and trusted myself… and somehow, they came out BEAUTIFUL. 🥹❤️

From that moment, something clicked in me. I knew. If it wasn’t for my grandfather putting that first comb in my hand, I honestly don’t know if I would’ve ever found this path. About a week later, I went to the barbershop where me and my friends used to hang around and said, “Yo, let me rent a chair. I’m about to start doing hair.” 😂 And from there… client after client after client. I’ve never had to wonder if God was opening doors for me because the doors just kept opening. 🙏🏽✨ I’m forever grateful.

But this page—and this business—is about so much more than hair. I don’t just do hair for the money. I do it because I love what happens when someone looks in the mirror and finally sees themselves again. I love bringing confidence back. I love helping people feel beautiful, comfortable, and like the version of themselves they’ve been missing. ❤️

And then there’s the conversations. 🥹🫶🏽 Some of my favorite moments happen while I’m doing your hair and we’re just TALKING. 😂 We talk about life, relationships, healing, trauma, dreams, heartbreak, growth… everything. And I love that my chair can become a place where you feel safe enough to be real. No judgment. No pretending. Just a safe space. 🤍

I’ve been through a lot in my own life, and I’ve had to learn how to heal, grow, process, and find myself again. So if something I’ve experienced can help another person feel understood, encouraged, or a little less alone, then I’m grateful for that too. 🙏🏽

Welcome to my world. Welcome to my chair. Welcome to a space where #beauty, #healing, #confidence, #connection, and #purpose meet. by @locsbyherrstudio
