Where do I even start? 🖤

My L.O.E. — Loyalty Over Everything — brother. You truly embodied what loyalty meant to me. You were always there, supporting me through every part of this medical journey I’m on. You would call just to check on me, remind me that I was going to be a doctor someday, and tell me how proud you were to have a friend who would one day become Dr. Alford. I’ll carry those words with me forever.

We came a long way from NSU, holding it down on the 9th floor, to watching each other grow, graduate, and step into different chapters of life. No matter where life took us, that brotherhood never changed.

When you had your son, you always told me that one day he was going to come stay with me and I was going to teach him everything I knew about medicine and help guide him along the way. I hate that you won’t physically be here to see those moments, but I promise you this: I’ll always be there for my godson. I’ll support him, guide him, protect him, and make sure he knows exactly who his father was and how much you loved him.

It took me a while to even find the words to write this because I’ve been crying and trying to process everything. Through it all, I continue to put my faith and trust in God, knowing that He doesn’t make mistakes, even when we don’t understand His plan.

I’m grateful for every memory — every homecoming, every party, every laugh, every conversation, and even the ups and downs we experienced along the way. We shared so many chapters of life together, and I’ll never take any of them for granted.

You will always be loved by me, my brother. Your loyalty, your friendship, your encouragement, and the love you showed will never be forgotten.

I’m going to keep pushing toward everything you always told me I could become. And when the day finally comes that they call me Doctor, I know a piece of that moment will belong to you too.
