have you ever noticed the colours you automatically gravitate towards when you’re scrolling for a hotel staycation? or the buying a wardrobe full of clothing all similar shades? or the imagery that makes your eyes linger just a little bit longer?

that’s your authentic story trying to tell you something.

at löf living, we believe the best way to start building your home isn’t by opening a trend catalogue or letting a rigid design style dictate your rules. it’s by looking at the core colours you already love.

our own core palette is rooted heavily in nature - specifically the deep, calming blues and greens that instantly make us feel creative, grounded and combine beautifully together. but we also believe rules are meant to be bent, so you’ll always find us experimenting with unexpected hints of pink and red here and there.

next time you go to pick a paint sample or a new piece of furniture, stop looking at what’s trending. look at your wardrobe. look at your travel bookmarks. start with the colours that you already love, and design with the feeling you want to experience the moment you walk through the door.

what are the core colours your eyes always draw towards? let us know below 👇🏼 core colours for löf living - blues, greens, burgandys and browns. The image highlights these colours individually as swatches, with a picture of stools in the background that align to our core colours. we want to inspire you to build core colours of your own based on the things you love. Take inspiration from everywhere, not just trends on socials. by @lofliving

BUT why can’t style elements from the likes of bahaus, mid-century modern, japandi, scandi and rustic all work together to create a space you love?

social media algorithms love to push us into uniform boxes, steering everyone toward increasingly identical spaces.

but design styles should only ever be used as a springboard, not a rigid set of rules. they are starting points to help you figure out what truly resonates with you.

when you swipe through these images you don’t have to choose just one path. true individuality happens when you pick out the exact elements you love from each style, movement or era - pairing the calm simplicity of one style with the rich character, texture, or pattern of another and combining them together.

bring your favorite inspirations into one cohesive story, and design for the exact feeling you want to experience when you walk in.

which elements from these different styles would you pull together to build your home or curate a space?

let’s talk in the comments 👇🏼

which vibe of bathroom would you choose?

we look at different tiles, debate bold colour theory versus soft plaster textures, and consider endless layout options.

but at the end of the day, a bathroom isn’t just about aesthetics - it is about how that space makes you feel when you are using it. It is about creating a personal sanctuary where the digital noise drops away, whether that is in a grounding space that has lots of warm and raw materials, or in a colourful and vibrant space that feels energetic and creative.

which of these spaces would you love to go home to? let me know in the comments 👇🏼#löfliving #designphilosophy #slowdesign #bathroom #bathroomdesign by @lofliving

the blue and green combination proves colour can be both grounding and expressive. a palette shaped by nature and softened by light.

calm blues and quiet greens. shades that hold a space together, adding depth without demanding attention. colour that feels steady, honest and effortless 🫒💧🫐🍃 by @lofliving

what if we embraced the colour, the clash, and the mix - and designed our homes with blended styles on purpose?

social media algorithms love to box us into neat, uniform categories. one week we are told to follow the clean lines of japandi, the next we are scrolling through rustic stone, rich mid-century modern walnut, or the bold structural confidence of bauhaus.
but a soulful home isn’t built from a sterile showroom catalogue.

design styles are springboards, not boundaries. they are simply starting points to help you find what resonates, not rules to dictate how you live. the most beautiful friction happens when you mix eras, pairing a quiet japandi corner with a playful eclectic detail or the raw warmth of a rustic wood piece.

we have curated six iconic design movements in this swipe.

let us know:
1. which of these design styles speaks to you the most?
2. if you could blend any two of these styles, which would they be?

let’s talk in the comments 👇🏼

löf living - the art of exploring moments that inspire and spark creativity.
through worlds built by our favourite brands, staycations that leave a lasting feeling, fashion, art, music, pattern and colour.
when designing spaces and homes, let’s bring back the art that has been lost over the years, and encourage taking inspiration from everywhere.

because design isn’t just about how something looks - it’s about how it feels.
it’s the light that moves across a wall, the texture that grounds you, the colour that changes your mood.
löf living is about creating spaces that feel lived in, loved and layered with meaning.
spaces that remind us to slow down, to notice, to feel.

and maybe, along the way, inspire others to do the same. by @lofliving
