Our robust yarns spun from Old Nors Sheep and Spael Sheep wool is warm, durable and has its own unique texture and feel.
You find them in several original sheep colours and also in plantdyed hues; dyed by us in our studio on the farm. As you see here they come in both 2 and 1 ply.
We use them for sweaters and cardigans.
They are also great for mittens and other things too!
Look for our knitting patterns in the 2 ply: several to choose from!

🇳🇴Våre garn i spælsau- og villsaugarn er robuste og vakre. Her får du lange dekkhår og myk tynn bunnull spunnet sammen til både 1 og 2 trådet garn. To helt ulike kvaliteter. De 2 trådete farger vi med krapprot, indigo og reinfann.
Vi har flere strikkeoppskrifter i dette garnet!🧶🥰

2trådet lammeull-garn fra Norsk Kvit 🐑 Sau:
Ale plantefarget.
Vi bruker de samme plantene som vikingene brukte: reinfann (gule farger), krapprot ( orange- røde farger), indigo ( blå farger). Vi farger både hvitt og sauegrått garn.

🇬🇧These are all 2 ply plantdyed crossbred wool yarns
:
Yelloish colours are tansy boiled with alum, the pink/ purple is cochenille also boiled, madder gives orange- red colours and all the blues are all made. by dipping the skeins in a 50 degree pot.
We never get tired of working with colours!

The Nordic Threads tour continues.

In May the woolteam took off to the more north north and met with Ragnhild - the powerhouse running @lofotenwool along with her team. Everytime we go back home, we do so with more love and understanding of how much work goes into a textile. We certainly dont look at clothes the same.

There are many women shaping life in these islands. Building businesses, working with the land and keeping local knowledge and traditions alive. Ragnhild is one of them.

A textile artist and craftswoman, creativity has been part of Ragnhild’s life for as long as she can remember. Through Lofoten Wool, she brings that creative practice together with a deep knowledge of wool, working with wool from Old Norse sheep and turning a local resource into something that carries both place and tradition forward.

Our little glock of sheep: Old Norse Sheep, enjoy life close to our barn, on the farm. They both like the shoreline, the forest and grazing on the field.
